GOP senator: If Moore wins, more people like Bannon will follow

Sen. Richard Shelby

(R-Ala.) says that a potential victory for Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore in the state's upcoming GOP runoff would prompt anti-establishment Republicans similar to former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon to "pop out of the woodwork" and sow discord in the 2018 midterm elections.

Shelby, the senior Alabama senator, told The New York Times that if Moore wins the runoff election against Sen. Luther Strange

(R-Ala.) on Tuesday, the Senate seat would become vulnerable to a Democratic challenge.

But if Strange wins, Shelby said, the incumbent would be sure to emerge victorious in the December election.

“If Roy Moore wins, Bannon and all the other of those people will pop out of the woodwork everywhere,” Shelby told the Times.

Not ignorant I just personally do not feel that refusing to remove the 10 commandments when a federal judge orders it is productive in any way. His talk is too religious and fire and brimstone for me. He is a kook IMO.

Kooks and lowlifes are what already populate Congress and the judiciary.

Chief Justice Moore unapologetically stood up against false rulings and tyranny by SCOTUS, and not once, but twice. He is precisely the kind of statesman our Founding Fathers wanted in high office. I support him 100%.

Hey Sen. Richard Shelby: You’re suggesting a Moore win might encourage Democrats? And you’re doing this in a state where, as you well know, a Democrat hasn’t won a US Senate seat since 1992? C’mon, give me a break.

If Roy Moore wins the seas will boil & the sky will fall

...I mean we might lose money because we won’t be able to stop DACA from ending & Trump will expose our secrets & we will go to jail.

That's the point Shelby.

You bet they are scared. The GOPe have spent a bunch of money on Strange. Made deals with Trump on Strange and the good people of Alabama are getting ready to tell the unitary FU! Go Moore! (Disclaimer - I hope this is the case).

Have you read about all the scandals that Strange has been in? Check some of the other threads. Everyone needs to read about Strange’s scandals.

Well good for you. His actions have accomplished nothing and frankly he sounds like a preacher to me. I’m sick of fighting about social issues when there are more important things at stake. Roy Moore seems like a loose cannon whose vote we cannot count on when we need it. Like heath care for instance.

And by "sow discord", GOPe Senator Shelby of course means "fight for working class Americans"...

You mean a man of high moral principals unafraid to stand up to tyranny ? Tyranny that you seem to have no problem with. You want to support a guy who got a Senate seat as a payoff for not investigating corruption on behalf of the Governor who appointed him. And one wonders why DC is so ethically challenged and chock full of reprobates.

GO MOORE !

I'm not in love with Luther Strange but I do support him over loose cannon Roy Moore. Strange will owe Pres Trump and help with his agenda, I don't trust that Moore will.

Just wondering, who did you support in the primaries? Trump, Cruz or someone else?

Yep. If Strange is so good, he can run for Shelby's seat when it becomes available rather than expect to cling to it by appointment.

I don't think Strange is a bad candidate, he is just more likely than Judge Moore to fail the "who is more likely to make liberal heads explode" test.

Sounds like Shelby needs to be kicked out too.

He has gotten too comfortable in DC, it seems.

when does he face reelection?

I agree with your take on it, and find the Shelby/Strange contest to be a funny thing to contemplate based of dynamics in play here.

Good one.
