RE: CNN has learned that the US is considering shooting down a North Korean ballistic missile even if it does not directly threaten the US or its allies.
We better be darn sure that we can hit it or this will be a major embarrassment to us.
Also, what if Fat Boy plays the game and continues shooting duds so that we continue to waste or anti-missiles on them?

That doubt is the reason to do it before you have to. Waiting until you see a launch that you can prove is going to do catastrophic damage before going "live" for the first time is the finale of an action movie, not sound defense policy.
IF our confidence level is high that we can do it — we should shoot down every missile they fire. Every one.

There is an island called Ulung east of south Korea in the sea of Japan. I am of the opinion that it would make an excellent location for an anti-missile battery. It would be in the flight path of a missile flying east to Japan or any US territory
The problem with the Patriot anti-missile system is that it is designed to protect a base, not a population. A Patriot “success” was when it knocked aside an incoming rocket so it landed and blew up in some peasant subdivision instead of the protected area.

I think that it makes more sense to destroy the N.K. missile on the launch pad. Thus, the pad is neutralized.
Be prepared to carpet bomb the artillery batteries aimed at S.K.
And the Chinese and Russians don't get to sniff out all that SigInt from launching a missile intercept.

You couldn’t be more right. Hitting such a target is not an easy and proven task!!
It may be better to pick them up from the bottom of the sea and see how they are built...
