Even by President Donald Trumps standards of aggressive bombast and hyperbole, his speech to the United Nations on Tuesday was a stunner. He overtly threatened to wipe out North Korea, a country of 25 million people.
Trump and North Korean President Kim Jong Un have been trash-talking for some time now about North Koreas aggressive pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. But Trump raised the ante in his U.N. speech when he said that the Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself.
Just prior to that statement Trump said, The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.
Let that sink in for a minute. Set aside for a moment the name-calling, which is a Trump trademark. There is no mistaking the intent here. The president was not talking about regime change. Or sanctions. Or international pressure. He was talking about launching an attack designed to wipe out 25 million people.
It is possible that Trump is employing the Madman Theory employed to great usefulness by Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. For that technique to work the other side simply has to believe that a leader is a madman capable of anything. Of course, there is always the danger that the other side might be so fearful that it would decide to launch a first strike. Its a risky strategy.
Prior to the U.N. speech a national poll indicated that more than 60 percent of Americans were uneasy with Trumps ability to handle the North Korea situation. After the U.N. speech, we will bet that number is higher.

And what about the others? LOL. Not only that, I doubt any other candidate would do much more than give a few motions about the riots and war on cops.
Better them than us..!
Good speech.
Germany hasn't started a world war in 70 years.
25 million brainwashed enemy combatants................
Yet the San Jose Mercury News is ok with wiping out 65 million Trump voters.
SO the Mercury News thinks that after Kim destroys an American (or any other) city, we’re supposed to go to the United Nations asking for more sanctions?
They say he is Hitler, and they expect him to not want to wipe out millions of people? What are they thinking? ;-)
>> more than 60 percent of Americans were uneasy with Trumps ability to handle the North Korea situation
Well, that’s a blatant lie by this editorial board.
99% of problem solved.
The vapors...
Heck, if we are going to eliminate 25 million people, why not 2 billion in India and China? Or a billion Islamic terrorists? /s
Secede already.
I could care less what these foreigners in the Mexican state of California think about our president.
The San Jose Merc used to report the forefront of Technology News.
Now it just manufactures Fake News with a spattering of DNC talking points.
The Monkey News? LMAO
I live in San Jose and they can’t even give their newspaper away. Their paper is as big as a grocery store ad (3 pages max) and they want nearly $2 for it. Inside.......GARBAGE!
LMAO
And what about Rocketman’s threat to wipe out America using nuclear weapons?
Yet the left has NO problem if THEY get wiped out..all for the cause right libs
