The Trump Justice Department has once again cleared former IRS senior executive Lois G. Lerner of criminal liability stemming from the tea party targeting.
In a letter to top Republicans, Assistant Attorney General Stephen E. Boyd said they re-reviewed the case and concluded there isn’t enough evidence to charge Ms. Lerner, who was at the center of the targeting. Mr. Boyd said the new review included lawyers who only recently joined the department and weren’t part of the Obama administration’s earlier decision.
“After this process, the Department determined that reopening the investigation would not be appropriate based on the available evidence,” Mr. Boyd said.
He said if new information comes to light, the decision could be revisited.
Republicans on Capitol Hill called the decision “terrible.”

Even though she admitted guilt under oath then took the 5th. This swamp is so deep and so full of vipors that only Article 5 can drain it.
Already explained many times. Mueller is using Koskinen to get at Trump’s tax returns. A creep like Mueller can take tax data and twist it whichever he wants even though the tax returns have been audited and have passed examination.
Mueller is the real swamp creature to take down, not Lerner, not Koskinen.
So the idea is to get Lerner’s testimony on Koskinen’s misdeeds, then let Koskinen know he is owned. That neutralizes him.
Result: Mueller is denied opportunity to make trouble via Koskinen.
As soon as Mueller folds or is dismissed, Koskinen will be resigning quickly. His utility is worth more as a buffer to Mueller.
Lerner’s testimony against Koskinen is worth more that hanging her in the public square.
Trump is a student of General MacArthur. MacArthur adopted a strategy of bypassing the largest installations of Japanese military in favor of going behind them and cutting off their supply lines.
Trump is doing the same with Mueller. Lerner, Koskinen are pawns.
Makes some sense....
