Schumer's Now Threatening to Add DREAM Act to Every Bill Until It Passes

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is threatening to attach a bill that protects DACA recipients to any and every must-pass legislation that moves this fall if Republicans fail to bring legislation to help the 800,000 illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as children.

"Congress has an ability and an obligation to act, which is why we today are calling on Speaker Ryan and Leader McConnell to immediately put the DREAM Act on the floor for a vote in the House and Senate," Schumer said during a press conference with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

"But let us say this, and I think I speak for the Leader as well, if a clean DREAM Act does not come to the floor in September, we're prepared to attach it to other items this Fall until it passes," he added.

Schumer slammed President Trump's decision to end DACA as "heartless" and "brainless."

“If this order stands, hundreds, hundreds of thousands of families will be ripped apart, tens of thousands of American businesses will lose hard-working employees,” the New York Democrat said.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Tuesday that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program would be rescinded with a six-month delay.

"We are a people of compassion and we are a people of law. But there is nothing compassionate about the failure to enforce immigration laws," Sessions said during the announcement.

Surprisingly, Schumer had a similar view in 2009.

“First, illegal immigration is wrong,” Schumer said during a speech at the Immigration Law & Policy Conference at Georgetown Law. “A primary goal of comprehensive immigration reform must be to dramatically curtail future illegal immigration.”

Ryan and McConnell will blink so much that visitors to the gallery think they are watching a stop-action video.

So sad. So true.

He will be if you plan to sit the 2018 midterm election out and he will make sure that President Trump is going to be convicted.

You do realize the rats want to impeach President Trump, do you?

The Dream Act began in 2001....and has gone no where since.

In 2012, 5 months before the 2012 election, ....Obama, according to the courts, created a fake law.

Thousands of Mexicans fell for it and foolishly gave Obama all the info he wanted....for a fake promise.

Still.....Hillary didn't get nearly the demographic vote that Obama got.

The latest MSM talking point is that the future prosperity of the United States, the greatest nation to ever exist, will be determined by what happens to a cluster of 800,000 illegal aliens. Those 800,000 exceed in talent and importance the remaining 320 million, and the hundreds of millions of Americans who have gone before.

And the Republican majority should strip it from every bill to which it is attached. (The Republicans are in the majority, right? Sometimes it is hard to tell.)

Two can play this game. Also attach immediate and total funding for the wall to each bill containing this provision. Will make the Kabuki theater more interesting.

The timing of this article is slightly off, I think.

Schumer made this announcement yesterday morning. Later that day, he and Trump became best buddies.

It seems like Trump has basically agreed to a clean DREAM Act as part of.....something......I’m honestly lost on the end game here.

Frankly, in this case I agree with Chuckie. Get a clean bill in there for an up or down vote and just move on. There are far more important things to get done.

If they had done this when Obama was President, it’d be law already. The Republicans would have caved eventually.

The only end-game that I think Trump should consider is an agreement from Democrats to finally stop slow-walking his nominees.

In one sense, Harvey (and the upcoming Irma) will be Trump's 9/11. With 9/11, Democrats were stalling on confirming Bush's lower-level nominations, too. Once the towers came down, Democrats couldn't move fast enough to give Bush his administration.

These two hurricanes are happening at the same point in Trump's administration as 9/11 happened in Bush's, with the Democrats in the same position of treating Trump as illegitimate as they did with Bush. Once Irma and Harvey rebuilding begins, Democrats should realize that Trump will need his full administration in place to deal with the aftermath.

If Democrats continue to slow-walk, Trump will have a very real argument that Democrats are hurting the hurricane victims by their stalling tactics, and Republicans will campaign on that in 2018.

Hand it to the dems. They are more aggressive than the puppies. If there was one democrat he would still be able to cause the puppies to cave.

Well, at least Trump signalled his willingness to make a deal.

But, not this deal!
