Believe it or not, I have a couple of pair of boots I bought when we lived in Germany. One pair is sleek and dressy and the others that I practically lived in over there are suede and lined with faux fleece.

They are the warmest boots ever and they still look darn good. As if I care if it’s icy cold and I don’t want to freeze. LOL!

They just announced around 100 of them are coming home tonight after over a week in TX. I guess the bunch who left for TX over the weekend went down to relieve them so they can get back to their jobs here. Many are firemen but they didn’t say if all are.
Maybe the area they were in can get by without them and those who left the other day are going to another one. I dunno. They’ll go where they’re needed most and are happy to help out, just like all the others from around the country who have been going to assist.

It’s times like these that we find out how many wonderful people there are in America.

Neat that you still have those boots. The suede ones sound like something that would be great to wear here in the winter, especially in the house. Our floors can feel like ice due to lack of insulation under the floors. They didn’t think about stuff like that back when this old house was built and I’ve never been able to get Hubby to put some in. *sigh*

That’s the way to do it! Can’t beat Ropers. They’re nice for dress, too...if they’re polished.

I’ll bet they’re exhausted! I hope they get to rest up before heading back out! I also hope they don’t develop any health issues from that nasty water down there! I’ve seen reports.......

I’d say they’re ALL exhausted. That area got hammered and there’s a been a lot to do.

I’ve seen reports about the water, too, and worry about everyone who’s gone to the flooded areas.

It does irk me we don’t hear anything about what’s going on in the cities that were slammed by the high winds as Harvey first roared in. I hope they’re getting a lot of help from volunteers too.

From one of my FB friends:
11:00pm update shows movement has gone from west, to west/NW !!!!!!. J... said since it started earlier than they thought, it will probably get “lifted out” by the trough, and might not make landfall in Florida at all!!! It’s still about 1000 miles away!

That would be great! Maybe it’ll turn north! But, then it could just be a wobble. Won’t know till it gets here.

I just watched the video you posted earlier and he showed the track was WNW at the time he was discussing it. It sure WOULD be nice if it turns north before hitting FL.

All we can do is wait to see what happens, and pray while we wait. That storm is a monster!

HERE is the latest one...11pm EST. I like that he's not all freakin' out over it all. Very matter-of-fact.

I have subscribed to his "channel" so I see his videos first.

I imagine he won’t sound as calm once he’s in FL and the storm is on top of him. If he - - and everyone else there - - is lucky, the storm won’t hit too hard. Will move up over the Atlantic rather than over the state. I guess a lot depends on how strong the front is that came through here today. Will it be strong enough to give the storm the shove we need it to get? Sure hope so!!

that’s me too. In fact, my Combat Boots look exactly like that, except the zipper-pull has a Harley Davidson Logo on them.

He was in Houston when Harvey roared in. There were webcams that he installed in the Corpus area. That’s all I know about the person, but heck! Who wouldn’t freak a bit when faced with that kind of power. LOL!

I sure would. I’d be out of there so fast. I don’t believe in “riding out the storm”. :)

I kept an eye on one web cam in Corpus Christi but don’t know if it was his or someone else’s.

Irma’s winds are stronger than the wind was here when the tornado went over the farm. The funnel didn’t touch down but it came close. The straight line winds at ground level were horrendous enough and he’s right about the sound being a bit disorienting. I was outside when it hit, having just gotten home and was in the carport. Fortunately on the east side of the house so was sheltered from the wind by the house.

My hair stands on end thinking about the people going through this storm. It won’t be for a minute but for hours.
