Darn it, now I am hungry... for a good burger.
I would settle for a Hardee’s, or even a Burger King. I have to drive 10 miles for a McDonalds.
There aren’t many burger joints around here in the sticks.
Two cities I’ve lived in have great fresh hamburger places but now I just enjoy the frozen and precooked Ball Park hamburgers, as they’re easy and good—6 for $7 @ WallyWorld. A burger in 45 seconds! Yum!
Boo Five Guys! Obama loves them so I hate them. Besides, their burgers and their fries can't hold a candle to even one Whataburger Junior.
Im a well travelled transplant here. There is a local place that everyone around here claims is the best. Possibly the worste burgers Ive ever had. "Hard roll" is just a stale bun and it holds a tiny, burnt nugget that they attempt to revive with a stick of butter and really low grade condiments.
Burgers arent the only thing like that though. The same place, often compared with an equally bad rival, has "the best chili in the world". The recipe as far as I can tell is 1/4 ketchup, 1/4 hot sauce, 1/4 beef tallow, and 1/4 sand. Its served on a big bed of spaghetti. It must be the spaghetti that tricks the locals into believing it meets the definition of food.
Luckily thru out the years I had a lot of TDY to Whatabuger areas such as Ft Sill, Ft Hood, and Eglin AFB. Then about 15 years ago (or more) they opened one in Northern Birmingham, drove right by a lot, and stopped also.
But if you want the best burger, go to Meers near Ft Sill: http://www.meersstore.com/
We have a What-A-Burger in West Columbia SC, not associated with the Texas chain.

Whataburger came to my area and went away in less than a year. I and I am guessing others were unimpressed.
