I think Rush talked about the plan to give opiates to German citizens to make them more compliant and less resistant to the Muslim horde invaders. Perhaps that’s the plan here?

It wasn’t opiates, it was estrogen.

Many people hear “magic mushrooms” and immediately associate tham with any other addictive drug. You know by experience, as do I, that using these is more akin to going to a museum than taking a train to nowhere. And when it’s over, you’re done. For me, I’ve been done for 15 years, but I’m glad for the experiences.

But should these thing be legal? I’m not so sure. Like you said, not everyone could handle it.

I believe they were proposing dosing the public with Oxytocin. It is not strictly a female hormone. It is found in both men and women but is particularly prevalent in women and especially postpartum women. It is a bonding or love inducing hormone.

You seem very educated on the risks of drug use and the history of pharmaceuticals. Where you are lacking is in your ability to think critically. 3/4 of your post is spot on but then at the end it all goes sideways.

The negative consequences of drug use only effect YOU when the state forces you to mitigate the negative effects of drugs on other people.

I agree with you that drugs (especially opiates) are on balance a source of pain and destruction in society....but since I am a volunteerist, I understand that the use of government violence is always the worst solution to any problem.

Your post goes through this whole (accurate) build up of how drugs are bad for SOME INDIVIDUALS and then at the end you make the leap to how they are bad for society. The problem is that all of the bad parts for society involve the use of government violence against sober people to force them to pay for the addicted people.

The problem for society is not the drugs, it is the government violence.

God made poisonous plants too. Eat them and you will die.

SO WHAT, Isn’t that part of the evolutionary process, natural selection, the weak and stupid die off and the strong and smart go on.???

I did mushrooms in college one night w/ a friend. I remember chewing them & swallowing them w/ sprite because they tasted like dirt. A night of heightened color, laughter and seeing the campus in a whole new light. The only time I did it & I have no regrets.

I’ve lectured my kids to be wary of psychedelics as long as they would listen

And most have

My oldest son will likely ignore me

At least LSD is weaker today

Doses 40-50 years ago were too much

Nah. But Canada has decriminalized psilocybin. and I don’t hear horror stories out of them. Isn’t the origin of psilocybin’s illegality based on the UN”s scheduling of it in 1971? We’re we worse off before then? I see people creeping around hereabouts , looking for ‘shrooms. Cops keep an eye on known picking spots.

Nobody publicly hands out plants/fungi where they are outlawed by nannystaters. However, they grow in HUGE amounts in the wild if you know where/when to look and are easily grown at home in a plastic shoebox. They can keep for years in dry storage. Sometimes a decade if the batch is big enough. Outlawing magic mushrooms is a pointless waste of OUR resources and like trying to outlaw mold!

There are numerous organizations of scientists that are interested in study of psychedelics. One very close connection to psychedelics is the study of neuroscience. By undergoing clinical trials, discussing psychedelic experiences through mass workshops and sometimes even taking psychedelics themselves, the scientists can better understand how the brain works. And also how our perception of reality truly works. They have workshops all over the world where people exchange experiences to better understand the overall picture of our brains and reality. One of the biggest is www.MAPS.org

Out of hundreds of people, never once at a workshop did we meet or another workshop member know anyone else injured by mushrooms. Never met anyone addicted or harmed in any way in their life from them. The only stories we’ve seen and heard are VERY positive. People escaping depression and addiction. People escaping crap jobs and starting amazing careers. People getting that spark back in life and finding love. AMAZING stuff!

If you search for studies, countless positive ones come up for mushrooms. Here are just a few at the top of the list:

They still exist and people that try them definitely know there is great purpose to their existence...

“Excellent posts by the way. Completely agree.”

Thanks. I don’t understand how anyone could anyone support the WOD Soviet surveillance and jackboots. It’s such an insult to supposedly FREE people that it makes me sick....

Protecting people from themselves by barrel of gun is the slipperiest slope of them all! What’s next? Making sure you don’t put too much fat on your plate? Making sure you get your required steps per day?

Some cities are already starting to track these things! if this doesn’t stop, someday you’ll be fined into poverty for every “unhealthy” thing you do and then die anyway!

You have made it "personal", just left out some pertinent details that matter, so I asked.

ROTFLMSO...re your "self taught" bit. And so, you make your own aspirin, penicillin, amoxicillin, etc., I suppose. Have you also studied, all on your own, dentistry, surgery, and manufacture of surgical and dental implements as well? And if not...WHY NOT?

You obviously have NO eyewitness/lived through what it was like prior to the PURE FOOD AND DRUG ACTS, nor do you understand just WHY they were passed. All you can do is post truly silly, fringe opinions, and then berate those of us who don't agree with you.

So why not just go off the grid now, including getting off the net? Go live your lets pretend life, as though it were 100s of years ago, as that is obviously what you imagine is the ONLY "freedom" in the world.

Just don't believe that you are clever nor special; you aren't; nor are you the only one who is dumb enough to come up with this very old ( the last group that proposed this crap was the hippies [ who were Communist/ic and so are you ] and before them the religious groups ( the Hutterites, Amish, Mennonites, the Shakers, etc. ), and then, there were/are the various cults, throughout the ages.

Of course I support keeping illicit substances illegal; intelligent people do!

I happen to be extremely well educated, knowledgeable, informed, and well read on quite an extensive variety of topics.

My entire post is correct and doesn't "go sideways" at all.

The negative effects of drug use with or without government interjection of any kind.

You don't understand a LOT of things and are therefore utterly wrong about much. Pity that...

"Government violence" now causes morons to dope themselves up, now? REALLY?

"Government violence" is now responsible for addicts committing criminal acts against others, property, and themselves? REALLY ?

The "problem for society" is that far too many people engage in behaviors that are stupid, dangerous, and meritless!

Your idea of “freedom” is not only puerile, in the extreme, it is wrong, worthless, and an insult to every logical, thinking, intelligent person!

Oh I am sure you can

Those are not clinical studies. Those are small numbered anecdotal studies that used LABORATORY grade psilocybin with people who were depressed because they had a terminal illness.

Most of the links you gave are repitious in that they are “news” stories making claims about results that the papers themselves did not claim.

We now know you are someone who rather routinely likes to engage in halucenagenic drug use. We can make our own conclusions
