California initiative would legalize psychedelic mushrooms
The Hill ^ | 08/30/17 04:10 PM EDT | Reid Wilson

California would become the first state in the nation to legalize psychedelic mushrooms if a long-shot ballot initiative passes muster with voters next year.

The measure is backed by a legalization activist who says he kicked his heroin habit with the help of a mushroom trip in Death Valley. It would exempt Californians over the age of 21 from a state law that criminalizes mushrooms containing psilocybin, the compound that gives some mushrooms psychedelic properties. […]

… California is one of eight states where voters have legalized marijuana for recreational use, and Saunders said legalizing psilocybin-bearing mushrooms is the logical next step.

But the hurdle for gaining ballot access is steep: To qualify, supporters will have to turn in more than 365,000 valid signatures of California voters, a difficult undertaking for even a well-funded campaign. …

Your childish, self aggrandizing post was VERY "personal" and left you wide open to be asked personal questions;. so don't stamp your tinny foot, throw yourself on the floor, roll around and scream in a terrible two type fit of temper.

"DEBATE"....WHAT DEBATE? All you do is repeatedly post, over and over and over and over again, the exact same old rubbish, that was spewed by far lefties, out to tear down this nation, more decades ago than I bet you've been alive.

Okay...thanks for the made up story, and your anti-police tirades are not only offensive, but yet more lefty garbage!

What year did you come here and how old were you at that time?

If you choose to not answer ( and if you do answer, please do NOT lie! ), you need to understand that unlike YOU, I know what I'm talking about and SHALL be more than able to prove your statement about the police invalid.

No, you do NOT "love America"; not by a long shot and neither do you know anything at all about this nation and her history!

You may physically live here, but you are not only ignorant of reality, you superimpose your own fantasy onto it.

Surely there is someplace, on this planet, that meets your idea of FREEDOM, HAPPINESS AND THE PERFECT UTOPIA, which this nation does not. /s

Good luck with that...*snicker*

I have a brother that lives in CA, his comment about this plan is that is the only way they think they can get people to live there that still pay taxes. Let them get so messed up they don’t care what the liberals are doing to the state.

America was better before we had damn militarized stormtroops covering entire neighborhoods for any little reason!

America was better when a tiny plantable package didnt give govt the power to lock anyone up for life and seize all their property!

You cant justify this stormtrooper horseshit as anything but theft, control and intimidation!

I’m asking you 4 times already to justify all this madness with your great knowledge. I live to learn and hope you can change my opinion FRiend

I stay in hotels a lot and one thing I notice is that there are no more minibars. Remember the minibars? These were the little refrigerators that had beers, soda, peanuts, chocolate bars and little airplane size bottles of liquors. You take one out and your hotel room get billed for it the next day.

Outrageously expensive but at 2am when you are in your underwear and don't want to get dressed and go the the 7/11 across the street, that little refrigerator of overpriced treats and beverages begins to look very appealing. Then you curse yourself later when you see your inflated hotel room bill.

Well those things have gone away. I did some research and discovered that they just weren't profitable enough to keep in operation. But some of the higher end hotels still have them, apparently.

Either you didn't really read my post or I did a bad job explaining my position. I will try one more time and be very careful to explain what I am saying in a way that you can understand. If you still misrepresent what I am saying I will have to believe it is either intentional or just ignorance.

Here goes...

Imagine you lived in San Francisco in 1860. "Joe" lived in a cabin up in Humbolt County and found a 50 pound bag of opium that was dropped by a Chinaman. Let's say Joe started smoking it and became addicted to it. This would be a HUGE problem for JOE. It would probably destroy his life. Down in San Francisco this WOULD NOT be a problem for you. You would go about your life as you had in the past.

Now, fast forward 150 years and say the same scenario played out in the same exact way....not only would Joe have screwed his life up but the government would force you (with the threat of violence) to pay to support Joe.

In the 1860 scenario, ONLY Joe had the problem. In the 2017 scenario BOTH you and Joe had the problem. The only difference is that in 2017 we have fallen for socialism. A majority of people now believe that it is the government's duty to use force against sober people to pay for drug addicts. Your line of thinking and your argument only endorses this belief system.

If Joe takes drugs and the government forces you to pay for him, the problem for Joe is the drugs. The problem for you (and society as a whole) is that the government is using violence against you to support him.

When you say things like The "problem for society" is that far too many people engage in behaviors that are stupid, dangerous, and meritless! ....you are simply wrong. Those are problems for the people that engage in them. They only become a problem for society when people like you endorse the idea that it is O.K. for the government to force us to pay to mitigate the natural consequences of these people's actions.

In your last post you threw in another logical fallacy about addicts committing criminal acts against others, property, and themselves. We shouldn't be creating new laws based on socialism to stop people from breaking old laws based in enlightenment and reason. The law which says "Don't steal" is based on Judeo Christian values. The reason for the law is that you have the right to your property and no one else should be able to take that from you. A law which says "Society has a right to dictate which stupid decision you cannot make" is not based on Judeo Christian values but rather Socialist values. The idea is that society gets a say in how all of the members behave because ultimately society is RESPONSIBLE for all of the members in it. Please let me know if there are any of my points that you don't understand.

In 1980, SWAT deployments were a few thousand in the entire USA. Last year was estimated up to 80,000.

There absolutely was not a 20-40 fold increase in scenarios where SWAT is necessary!

There is no justifying this militarized horsesh** marching with rifles in our streets!

Several of my good friends are Vets who got into law enforcement in various cities (Boston, DC, NYC, LA and SD) and ALL of them say police tactics/culture have gotten out of control in the past ~10 years.

Several of them quit LE because it all made them sick. They joined to genuinely “protect and serve” but the culture didn’t let them do that. They chose to start over in entirely new careers (contracting, oil, private security). They saw good cops quitting while the crazies got more concentrated until it was unbearable.

We have cops no-knock raiding American homes at the drop of a hat with more force than these vets used on Taliban terrorists! This is a serious, serious PROBLEM that is spiraling out of control and must be attacked!

<< At least LSD is weaker today >>

Yep, acid is weaker and weed is stronger.

Buddy of mine told me that his 1x week Guatemalan maid ate a couple a enhanced cookies out of his freezer without asking. Oops...lol. She spent the next 24 hours on his couch curled up in a ball. Half a cookie (bought legally from a med. mj store) is a strong dose. She ate 4 times that. But he put on some old Yes and Floyd and she got through it without freaking. Smiling, in fact.

Instead of replying to all of your posts to me, on this thread, I'll just reply this one time.

You have refused to answer any of my questions. Therefore, I am going to not believe a lot of what you claim about yourself and others.

Obsessed, as you are, about a topic which you obviously know almost NOTHING whatsoever about, your constant, erroneous, factless, hyperbolic statements are patently ridiculous.

You should go educate yourself about the history of the police in this nation! To use a salient French saying: "THE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME."

Though technology changes, some laws and sentencing change, what is illegal and what isn't, may change somewhat, there have ALWAYS been bad apples in police ranks, as there have been, since time began, in ALL professions! Even though you imagine that police, here, were once ALL pure as the driven snow and never, oh never, did anything like placing evidence in order to haul someone in, rough someone up, enter the wrong house, etc., that is a fantasy! It also your fantasy that this nation is using the police against ALL "innocents", akin to what went on in the old USSR.

You're wrong about so very many disparate topics, it's appalling and revolting; especially since you believe yourself to be the arbiter of everything and those who disagree with you, are not only wrong, but don't know as much as you do. You're delusional and have more in common with lefties than you do with most here.

All but one paragraph are personal attack. I’m not answering all of your questions because I dont wish to identify myself. You havent told me anything about yourself so what makes YOU such an expert on America?

I wish to be enlightened so please go ahead.

So according to your one paragraph of substance:
“there have ALWAYS been bad apples in police ranks, as there have been, since time began, in ALL professions!”

I already said 4-5 times I agree with this. However, WHY are these bad apples usually not punished or stopped in progress when they happen to be police? Many times on video. Why do judges so often give them nothing or block lawsuits? It’s obviously a deep institutional issue that seems to be spiraling based on first hand LE information I got.

“Even though you imagine that police, here, were once ALL pure as the driven snow and never, oh never, did anything like placing evidence in order to haul someone in, rough someone up, enter the wrong house, etc., that is a fantasy!”

I never said that. I’m saying it is way easier to place evidence when the substance is a tiny baggie that the cop can find anywhere. There is also recently a profit incentives with siezure laws. And yes, cops always went to wrong houses sometimes. But most police departments didnt used to have stormtroopers doing so many raids. Some of these raids cost MILLIONS for some suicidal kid or a damn pot!

Then you would support banning guns on the pretense there are people who abuse them irresponsibly, or banning cars, since people drive drunk.

Freedom means, people do what they want, and get punished for abusing the right. Robert Downey Junior did Coke just fine, and never hurt anyone or otherwise made a problem of himself. Wall Street and Hollywood are full of the same, and so are landscapers and pool service techs.

The problem is, the drug war preemptively judges people unable to do something they might be able to do responsibly. then it taxes hundreds of billions that should go to r&d and startups.

And that ignores the intrusion on innocent people, like civil forfeiture or the massive surveillance state that supports it.

There is shit you don’t know about. Personally I would gladly move everything you talk about into my life, if I could get a smidge of privacy.
