Is there a better protest than sitting for the national anthem?
Instagram ^ | August 23, 2017 | Kelly Stafford (quoting Mitch Albom)

kbstafford89"If you think the country can be better, stand for the ideal. If you think the answer is people showing unity, stand with them. The anthem is not the national police song. The anthem is not the national racists song. The anthem is an exercise in how this country can endure and rise, how we can agree on its future potential, even while struggling with its present. The anthem’s words depict a flag that is suffering through bombs and rockets. You could easily view those bombs and rockets as the challenges our democracy faces today, and the flag a symbol of rising above them." -Mitch albom

Kelly Stafford, the wife of Lions' QB Matthew Stafford, posted this quote from a Mitch Albom column on her Instagram page. She and Albom are right.

She was crucified by the left for it. It's time to stand up for people like Kelly Stafford. Stop accommodating the America-hating left.

Gosh, I was going to say it seemed like a rather tepid defense! But here’s 100% behind her!

Or you could just play football. I am sick of the pink socks, the leftist espn commentary on guns, and players who hate America.

But that’s just me i guess...

These idiot players and the NFL need to understand, we watch to escape life. Not to wallow in a morass of commercials about domestic violence, breast cancer, Bob Costas lecturing me about guns and thug players crapping on America.

From the protesters' point of view, it's perfect: a captive audience whose members have paid significant money to be there for another reason, and the protesters being paid enormous amounts of money to be there for another reason as well. National televising for free. Reporters standing by to report on it for free. All that is necessary to make it happen is a fundamental betrayal of that arrangement in favor of a private political passion. No repercussions, fawning followers, self esteem. Sweet deal if you can keep the suckers coming.

This is a former sucker speaking: not a dime, not a down. Got better things to do with my time.

Except their “captive audience” is diminishing due to what they’re doing.

If you’re a season ticket holder, you’ve already paid them their money, present or not. And it’s a lot of money.

People still buy season tickets?

I haven’t attended a game in I don’t know how long. And I’ve stopped watching.

Oh, sure. Seahawks season tickets run from $2200 to $4400 a pop. Playoffs extra. And at the moment all you can do is put your name in a line to wait for if they become available. Money spigot.

If the players really wanted to ‘do something’ (what and about what I’m not sure they have even considered yet), they could donate a significant percentage of their obscene salaries to whomever they think is so oppressed. I guesstimate that if all those protesting players pooled their salaries, they could give each citizen of the US a million dollars. (That is only roughly $330,000,000, after all; Why the winner of last night’s powerball could afford to do that and still have $70,000,000 left over!)

>> Stop accommodating the America-hating left.

When you all begin to accept that fact the Disney, Comcast, Viacom, and now AT&T are dictating the hostile content its MSM properties spew, then maybe we’ll have a chance.

But until then, feel free to keep your head up your ass.
