NWS just upped their rainfall forecast, I don't think I've ever seen pink on it before:

That's over 20 inches, and includes part of the Houston metro area.

Tape on windows can be very difficult to get off cleanly. One seldom discussed prep for high winds is to tape the outside keyholes in doors. If keyholes get packed with sand/debris, can be big hassle to clean out.

We were at a place named The Waters Point.

Yep, if you’re in an area with exposed sand, that’s going to get driven into unusual places by high wind, too. Never thought about keyholes.

As far as the gooey tape residue, a light solvent like mineral spirits and a straight edge razor usually does the trick. Be careful to keep it off of painted surfaces or anything else that might be damaged or affected by a solvent, though.

“People get too impressed with sprawling hurricanes but the really bad ones tighten up with an extremely well-defined eye.”

Remember Katrina? When it passed 200+ miles to the west of Tampa it was still disorganized, no eye. Tampa bay tides tho were 3’ above normal. I knew when I saw the flooding on Bayshore drive that day that Katrina was in reality one big, mean storm as it’s low pressure system extended hundreds of miles out.

Btw, this morning when I arrived at work in S. Tampa I noticed the clouds coming from the SE. I.e., feeding into this system from 300 miles away. Big, big storm coming. Bigger than the pointy heads figure right now. Not bigger than Shep. Smith will predict tho.

Eye is starting to really clear out....not good

The NWS radar out of Houston total rainfall top is set at 24 inches...(normally much lower) it started adding rain up yesterday morning...

already pockets of 1-3 inches..... Byran had 3 inches yesterday( but not directly related)

I suspect the whole area will fill up with reds with pink and whites by the time this is over

Have they ordered the evacuation of the barrier islands yet? No way a prolonged surge + large waves won’t devastate those islands. This is a big one. Mass devastation.

They need to start mandatory evacuations. By tomorrow noon the bridges will be clogged and the water will be up, flooding roads as happened with Katrina. People will be stuck. They will die.

Media underplaying this to make a Katrina event for Trump.

/conspiracy.

I hope New Orleans has found the lost money and fixed the pumping system or they are in for a long week.

Probably not, but we’ll make a go of it. After Ike, I was a gas mule for some folks as I had to run south out of Houston for work and came back with a bunch of full gas cans.

We’re staying put. Figure our house survived other storms. Plus we want to see if our new drainage system in the yard works. LOL!!!

I live in West Tennessee now, and not on the coast. That model run keeps it remarkably strong when it comes by here. Prayers for those closer to the heart of the event.

What part of TX are you in?

Our area had MAJOR flooding work done, after Memorial Day’s flood.

What a way to test it out, huh?? ;-)

The mountains get whacked by these rains as normally a front will push it over and it picks up torrential rain over roads that can only handle so much before slides set in.
