A 96-year-old World War II veteran hailed as an American D-Day war hero after surviving a fierce battle against the Germans on the cliffs of Normandy has admitted he was actually in northern Ireland at the time, according to a French nonprofit organization.
George G. Klein was treated as one of the great celebrities during the 73rd anniversary of the Normandy battle during a ceremony there last month, where he was honored as one of the 90 surviving members of the elite 2nd Ranger Battalion that battled the Germans on the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc on June 6, 1944.

Are we gonna have to wait until Obama is 96 too?
Or 9,600?
Jimmy Carter has 3 more years. maybe as he is 92
I am glad he came clean. Nothing to be ashamed of in his service. Normandy wasn’t the only battle
Really seemed to get to him that after training for this operation an injury scrubbed him from the actual assault. Glad he finally came clean.
I guess the other 89 survivors didn’t remember whether he was with them or not. Was a long time ago.
And given his age, he stays on board with abortion, gay marriage, trying to divide the land of Israel against God’s very clear statements, and transgender bathrooms.....
Shaking My Head........
Imagine living that long and daily having acid bile eating you up from fear that someone will find out he is a liar. In a way he may have paid for his transgression.
Fake is in these days.
... and that wasn't even Matt Damon ...
Bad as what he did, in no way should he be compared to traitor-in-chief Obama or anyone else of the sort.
Also from the NY Post article...
But Klein, of Glenview, Ill., should not be ashamed of his real contribution to the liberation of Europe during World War II, Laurenceau said, noting that he was deployed from July 1944 to July 1945 with the 46th Field Artillery Battalion and was seriously wounded during combat in the Moselle region of France in November 1944.
Klein was later awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart medals by the United States and the prestigious Legion of Honour, Frances highest military award.
Trapped into a lie of that shaped him in the eyes of his entourage and from which he could no longer escape, he finally resolved to tell the truth to his family, his relatives and the organizations that supported him for several years, Laurenceaus account continued.

Ping.
No,but he certainly served with exceptional courage,as did the large majority of WWII vets. And I believe that Mr Klein served honorably as well...at times other than June 6 1944.
