I suspect the underlying reason for the renovations was to remove the bugs and listening devices left by the soetero regime.

Lots of places for bugs in that room. Behind the wallpaper, inside the furniture, in the carpet, etc. They should make that room into a faraday cage.

Me too. Glad they got rid of that striped wallpaper, it was so dated. It did look like a Holiday Inn conference room. Much more understated and refined looking now.
Carpeting is better than the jarring blue as well.
I was in DC two years ago and I thought the White House looked really dingy. Not only was it depressing to know who was in there, it also looked like no one was taking care of the lawn. A sure sign of a bad neighbor.
I am going again next month. I can't wait.
Should’ve washed to whole place floor to ceiling with muriatic acid just make sure they killed any and all remaining infestation

the oval office is nice, but ALL the furnishing, drapes, carpet, ect are AWFUL !
Every single piece not part of the building in that room I would throw in the trash.
