Lots of places for bugs in that room. Behind the wallpaper, inside the furniture, in the carpet, etc. They should make that room into a faraday cage.

The aforementioned Moscow Embassy bug was a passive microwave transponder: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_(listening_device)

It was an embarrassment because the US officials were unaware of the technology, which is very similar to the now-common passive RFID. While such a device could be illuminated through a window or even a faraday cage that was not fully effective we now routinely scan for such activities. Plus it’s unnecessary to go to such extremes when throughout the previous administration, every person in any given room has been carrying a phone that can be converted into a covert listening device. Now hopefully proper security measures are implemented and the Awan Brothers Phone Company has had it’s wires cut.
