What everyone is missing in the speech is not that we are sending thousands of troops (never mentioned) but Pakistan is on notice. This will be a war, partially “fought” by economic means. This all that Pakistan and others care about. Imagine, Rex telling Pakistan that if they harbor anymore terrorists, funding will be cut off as well as coal, oil, etc. from USA and India to them. India will act like China did to stop NK, by stopping exports to them. Watch over the next several weeks, economic sanctions starting to develop and then ISIS will be forced to stay in Afghanistan where they will be killed by our and Afgan troops with new ROE.
There is an unlimited amount of terrorist there we could stay a 1000 years and as soon as we leave....same.

Not everyone supports Trumps plan of adding troops in the Afghanistan cesspool! I’ve become skeptical rather than naive. Optional wars are fought to make rich people richer, while they convince us fodder to march off for medals.
I favored destroying Afghanistan in 2002 and strongly opposed getting involved in Iraq. We need to destroy those who would destroy us, and forget fighting PC wars and wars for neocons. America first and MAGA

There is only one thing in Afghanistan that is worthy of our military’s attention, and that is the poppy fields(which they guard). Those poppy fields cause thousands of American deaths a year. Those soldiers will die for them.
Otherwise, pull the troops out and let the hellhole be the hellhole it has always been. We aren’t going to convert them to Christianity and make them a democratic nation. Nothing we do will make any difference long term in Afghanistan except for a scorched earth policy regarding their narcotic industry.
Let’s look at it this way... You’re a brilliant person. Say it was like making a bet. Say the over under was 20 million terrorist killed. Would you take the over or the under for a hundred bucks?
