“He’s letting the generals give them his plans.”

Give who his plans?

“Vietnam got better on its own.”

How’s that, by being communists?

I absolutely believe he is going to gun for:

Mcmaster, Gary Cohn, Javanka, Dina Powell...and maybe Kelly.

Breitbart is linking to that Vanity Fair article.

It’s a warning, IMO .

You move left and I will help impeach you.
...
So this is a good discussion...Since Trump hired Kelly and likes Bannon immensely, how does that jibe? I can see the others.

Japan’s is a confusing one...family. i don’t assign such the influential level of these two that most do...couple of pretty figureheads who have some ideas but likely get overruled...I’d also wager their idealistic thoughts of grandeur may have not jibed with real world behind closed white house doors...

I don’t get your last line.

They allowed a little controlled capitalism just like China did.

Nobody wins in Afghanistan.
Alexander the Great couldn’t conquer it 2350 years ago, Genghis Khan gave up, the Brits gave up, the Russian’s gave up. It’s not worth the effort and the Afghanis don’t anyone there. We should cut our losses, kill as many Taliban as is possible as a punitive act, and then just abandon it.

My favorite account of the frustration of Alexander the Great to his mother, Olympias:
“Alexander’s mother Olympias wrote him a letter, getting on his case for taking so long to knock off these primitive, poverty-stricken Afghans. So Alexander captured three tribal chiefs and sent them back to Macedonia, each one carrying an offering of soil from his own tribal homeland; they were supposed to deliver these tokens to Olympias as a gift from her son. But waiting outside the queen’s palace door, the three chiefs got into a fight and killed one another. Alexander’s Mom wrote back: ‘Now I understand, my son.’”

After hearing Trump’s speech, as I said, the adults are now in charge.

Dear rummy,

Thx for the update.

The only way I can define ‘winning’ in Afghanistan, with the generals not learning their Vietnam War class, is this:
Empty the bank of Kabul, then nuke the city.
Burn all the poppy fields, and yes, salt the fields.
Midnight napalm runs on the next largest cities, coordinated.
Import about 100 pairs of wild boars in uninhabited areas. In 5 years, with two ‘seasons’ a year, giving 8 piglets with each pair, delivering more than 12000 boars in that time, unencumbered.
(if not boars, javelinas would work, too)

I’m glad you and John McCain think so.
