A Navy guided-missile destroyer, the USS John S. McCain, collided with a commercial vessel east of Singapore early Monday morning local time, the Navy said.
There were 10 sailors missing and five injured, the Navy said.
The collision with the merchant ship Alnic MC occurred east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore at 6:24 a.m. Japan Standard Time, as the McCain was on its way for a routine port visit in Singapore, the Navy said.

The Alnic MC is an oil/chemical tanker.
I didn’t readily find what the damage was to the tanker.
I was far-Northwest edge of IIICorps both tours. Fishhook / Parrot’s Beak areas, up on Cambodian border.

There is NO WAY that a Safety Stand down was not conducted after the first collision at sea.
I want to know if any intial recommendations were nade to procedures after the 1st one and if so what they were, were they fleet wide, were the causes if these collision related (same training issue, same bad Standard Operating Orders issue, have the merchant ships changed something in their procedures?
Or is this just a statisical anomoly?

Boarding and blockade actions require you to be actually aware of the presence of other ships
this is not coincidence IMO....

Nah, it was 6:30 AM, broad daylight and the ship complement was up and at work.

Agreed. The navy can barely hide one attack, but a second, not so much. Not sure why they want to hide these attacks from the American public though.
With the downsized crews of the Obama Navy I’m sure that they have sailors standing watch 24/7 anymore.
2 incidents in such a short period of time doesn’t sound like a coincidence considering all the tension the ChiComs have generated in the South China Sea and Korea.
Even something as simple as AIS would have warned them.
maybe they were "fag" officers...just like the train conductor back in Philly who just happened to be speeding into a curve and managed to kill 8 people and injure many more..

I am not current on the regulations but with some course work and documented boat time, you may be able to get a license that would allow you to carry a fee paying passenger.
