President Trump, in part, was right. There is blame to go around for the unrest in Charlottesville. There is fear, intolerance, demonization and growing hatred on both the extreme left and the extreme right. But despite what Trump has claimed, repeatedly, in his public statements since the tragic events there, the willingness to employ organized violence to achieve political goals remains a signature quality of only one side. And its not the left.
Extremism on the left is real. It can be seen in attempts to stifle the free speech of conservative speakers on university campuses (as at Middlebury and Berkeley); in the belligerent attitudes toward corporations and capitalism expressed, for instance, by some fringes of the Occupy Wall Street crowd and anti-globalization protesters; and among anti-Zionist movements that peddle conspiracy theories (such as the contention that Jews control U.S. foreign policy) to delegitimize Israel. Yet all of this falls well short of the methodical, organized and strategic violence and incitement embraced by right-wing extremists, whose leaders profess faith in the necessity of the fight. Nothing the left can do today even comes close to that and hasnt for decades.
Although the American left was never as fully at ease with revolutionary violence as were its European counterparts (who were reared on Robespierre and Marx), it often took up arms. Labor unions battled constantly with railroad barons, industrial tycoons and mining bosses during the Gilded Age. Even while outnumbered and outgunned, usually by private armies that enjoyed the backing of law enforcement and state militias, workers fought in bloody clashes that left dozens dead on battlefields such as Chicagos Haymarket Square (1886) and West Virginias Blair Mountain (1921).

Coincidence?
Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment at his office located right across the street from Harvard Medical School,Harvard Dental School and Harvard School of Public Health. After the appointment I went to the Harvard Employee's Credit Union office located in that complex (I'm a Harvard retiree).
While walking in the area I saw a number of posters on various light poles etc by some Marxist organization (don't have the poster in front of me) calling on people to go to the Boston Common the next day (today) to "smash the fascists".
No violence? Yah,sure!
I read the nails are to stab the horses.
What is a Yoav Fromer? I think if I had one, I would probably have surgery to remove it.
I am trying to think if I have ever seen a car torched, a business vandalized, a policeman shot, or an invited college speaker chased off campus by a conservative or right wing group. I cannot.
I thought this was satire.
The right wasn’t even represented in Charlottesville except for some local recruits.
First of all, I read the whole article. No, seriously, all of it.
Fromer uses examples from the late 19th century (1886) to justify his contention that conservatives are more violent than progressives and becoming morebev
Fromer must be smoking dope!
Classic case of cherry picking history. E.g. Unionism today so often becomes about taking sides rather than standing up for objectively fair principles. The solution to the original cause becomes the excuse for a blinkered blind march. You’d think that bloody shirts would not be a one sided thing. When a company gets a bloody shirt there is no funeral, but people lose jobs by the thousands.

Antifa assaults woman w/ American Flag in Boston..
And then the MSM complains that Trump keeps calling them out for fake news.
I would like to see one media outlet name a violent right-wing group. Just one. I’ve never seen it happen, and doubt it ever will.
Now, I’ve seen them describe violent leftist groups as “right-wing”—but that’s not what I’m asking for. I want to see an example of an actual right-wing group that is violent.
Should have been a BARF ALERT.
Who killed all people on the Clinton Body Count?
Begging to get bull whipped. That’s nothing to do frivolously. But sometimes eeeeeeeek! Either that or shoot him because of what it could do to the horse’s rider. The bull whip would be a comparative kindness.
Excuse me?
Seriously?
My God, the absurdity.
One incident, and the left relishes calling it violence by the right wing.
Problem is, in Charlottesville, the RW was immediately countered by a sizeable left wing crowd. We didn’t even get to see how a RW extremist group would behave BY ITSELF, unmolested by an equal crowd of enemies. THAT is the true test. Leftists go out BY THEMSELVES and vandalize and burn and pillage all the time, with no enemy to instigate.
It was ghosts!
