Madison Wisconsin is named after James Madison, who owned slaves. I’m sure we can see the good mayor proposing to change the name of the city next.

Interesting how the cemeteries are even getting rid of Confederate memorials. When it is suggested that statues be removed, one of the places suggest to put them is in the Confederate sections of cemeteries. What next, removing the headstones of Confederate graves?

Clearly under lib logic, the U of Wisc. football stadium (Camp Randall) has to be torn down. It housed Confederates and is a modern day monument.

Could be that Antifa will leave Atlanta alone and be content to pepper spray and bash the players and fans at the first U of Wisc. home game at ....Camp Randall. Soros has lots of funds left.

“There should be no place in our country for bigotry, hatred or violence against those who seek to unite our communities and our country.”

But it's okay for him to do it - even when it's against dead soldiers and their final resting place.

defacing cemeteries is a line neither side should cross

You'd think that would be obvious. Think about it. Is it as it is with a cemetery in OH? Are there confederate soldiers who died there as POWs? How will we ever know in the future, if everything is torn down?

Sure, I understand that. But those Confederate POWs died and were buried up there over 150 years ago. The marker to not the graves has stood for nearly 40 years without bothering anyone. What bigotry, hate and violence occurred because of this marker, and who are “those who seek to unite our communities and our country”? SoundS like a lot of BS to me.

Madison.... Named for James Madison, owner of hundreds of slaves.

So.... when will they be starting a drive to rename the city??

If I lived near Madison, I would make some billboards on Trailers and park them on the various major roads entering the City.

The Billboards would exclaim:

Madison: The City Named for Slaveholder James Madison."

And watch Liberal heads expload.

This is how you shove their propaganda up their @$$e$ and break it off.

Why not just dig up their bodies too Mr Mayor and throw them in the river or garbage dump? I thought we had all heard these monuments belong in a cemetery or museum? Not good enough for you? With all the resources the Union had, Confederate prisoners were treated like animals. Its a permanent blot and shame on the United States Army for handling prisoners like that. Actual Nazi prisoners were treated far better than Confederate prisoners.

Not one of those soldiers wanted to be there and everyone of them would get up today and leave if they could. The Mayor is a piece of $hit who is guilty of being terminally stupid and foolish. More people are going to get hurt before this is over. Crazies are not going to sit by forever while this goes on.

Confederate prisoners were treated horribly through out the North. After the war, those who would sign loyalty oaths got train tickets home, those who wouldnt had to walk.

They all read from the same playbook and spew the same talking points of gibberish. They have no context or real understanding. I also have a problem with the authority of these A-holes who unilaterally remove memorials. Every statue and memorial is different and built by different entities private and in many cases government. What’s next, desecration of state and federal cemeteries and destruction of anything from the founding of this nation?

I notice that none of these statue removals have been put to pa popular vote. They’re just done at the whim of some elitist.

It would probably be better if questionable public art was removed as a result of a voting ballot measure that passes instead of by order of a politician who caves to a special interest group complaining about it.

...Soglin said in a statement Thursday that he directed city staff to remove a plaque and a larger stone monument at the Confederate Rest section of the public cemetery...

How long will it be until the graves are emptied and the bodies are thrown into a lime pit?
