Bannon Plots Fox Competitor, Global Expansion
Axios ^ | August 19, 2017

Posted on 08/19/2017 6:44:47 AM PDT by Helicondelta

Axios' Jonathan Swan hears Bannon has told friends he sees a massive opening to the right of Fox News, raising the possibility that he's going to start a network.

- Bannon's friends are speculating about whether it will be a standalone TV network, or online streaming only.

- Before his death in May, Roger Ailes had sent word to Bannon that he wanted to start a channel together. Bannon loved the idea: He believes Fox is heading in a squishy, globalist direction as the Murdoch sons assume more power.

- Now he has the means, motive and opportunity: His chief financial backer, Long Island hedge fund billionaire Bob Mercer, is ready to invest big in what's coming next, including a huge overseas expansion of Breitbart News.

On Day 1, Breitbart declared he's taking his West Wing infighting to the outside, telling Bloomberg Businessweek's Josh Green that he's "going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America."

The reality is that Bannon will go nuclear on former colleagues he calls "West Wing Democrats": economic adviser Gary Cohn, Jared and Ivanka ("Javanka," as he calls them) and Deputy National Security Adviser Dina Powell.

The revved-up Breitbart operation is also likely to target Speaker Ryan, as it did before Trump.

No.
The West Wing coup has taken place. It’s now President Jared Kushner and First Lady Ivanka. Trump threw Bannon under he bus and with that all of us. Hollywood and NYTimes, CNN, and MSNBC had a fireworks celebration yesterday in case you weren’t watching.

It’s all coming clear now.

Bannon wasn’t pushed out. He was released, like the “hounds”.

Trump will instruct the SEC & FCC to make the Time Warner/ATT merger contingent on the divestiture of CNN.

In comes Bannon with backing from conservative billionaires. Add in O’Reilly, Bolling, et al, to purchase CNN.

Hannity, Pirro, Dobbs, possible Carlson & Watters jump ship and it’s off to the races. This means the death of FOX. The Murdochs can go pound sand in their ears.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m popping more popcorn.

.@Varneyco “Trump supporters have long claimed that the @POTUS’ negotiating skills would carry him through...It has not worked out that way” pic.twitter.com/iujNqfNlg7— FOX Business (@FoxBusiness) August 19, 2017

______

How can there even be negotiation when the other side refuses to participate and, to add insult to injury, instead disparages and demeans the very idea of negotiation?

Trump can negotiate just fine, provided he has a partner. Varney knows this, of course.

Isn’t it amazing how much Trump has managed to accomplish in a few months with the entire world refusing to participate?
The childish opponents who snigger and sneer about how he isn’t _that_ rich, he isn’t _that good_ at negotiation, he “Can’t make America great again” because they won’t go along must be besides themselves as Trump’s popularity rises, theirs falls and we all can’t wait to deliver payback in any way possible.

Not a one of them can recover from this tantrum. Trump started out with an extended hand and goodwill. Now, he’s rolling up his sleeves and his supporters are activated. That’s what Bannon meant by saying the administration they campaigned for is dead.

Welcome to the revolution!

Steve Bannon will be a tough and smart new voice at @BreitbartNews...maybe even better than ever before. Fake News needs the competition!

“I would buy OAN...”

That’s exactly what my husband and I were saying today.

A little off topic, but since Bannon didn’t go to NJ with the rest of the crew, I was wondering if he stayed at the W.H. to oversee the “HVAC renovation” project. I always believed the HVAC renovation actually was having Rudy’s people, or similar, doing an extreme sweep to eliminate Obama’s surveillance equipment. I wonder if the leaks will slow down with the new HVAC system.

paid service on Roku won’t have nearly the reach a cable TV station would. Only political junkies would pay for it.
_____________

I think you underestimate the number of cord-cutters who have dropped cable and sat subscription TV for streaming. Only the over-80s cling to broadcast.

Alex Jones has 2M subscribers and untold lurkers. I don’t know OAN’s stats. The market is there and Bannon, Breitbart and Mercer have the $$ and expertise.

Well stated. Also the reality is unlike the business world, no senator, or congressperson is going to immediately lose their job, income, etc.

In business negotiations the bottom line is what causes agreement. Reagan although not a businessman by experience knew this and his “ part of a loaf “ analogy reflected that.

Todays politicians hide behind totality instead of incremental steps to the end goal to rationalize an objection to progress when they know the status quo ( Obamacare, taxes, regulations) only leads to something that hurts the general non freebie oriented population

Great summary.

My reply to Varney was pretty much a shortened version of what you stated :-)

Since the Murdoch sons and their liberal bitch wives have taken over Fox news it has become MSNBC or CNN lite.
Marie Harph from the state dept?(who is she doing) clueless is too kind.
Kat Timpf as much depth as Kermit the frog.
And the snotty bitch Eboni Williams is a black pride snot who thinks her crap fails to smell but is truly a nasty thing.
Juan?
Fox is neither conservative nor fair and balanced any more.
To hell with em.
Time for a new, REAL conserVATIVE LEANING NETWORK,

I think you vastly overestimate the amount of conservative news cord cutters consume.

I thought conservatives would be the first to sever the cable/msm. No? I and most everyone I know did it long ago.

And the poster is not exaggerating...Cable TV has been dying for decades now. It’s certainly not a secret.

Why not just join forces with One American News since they do report what the media does not.
