Waiting staff in the US rely heavily on their tips to make up for their low wages, but one server in Rockford, Illinois, was surprised to find the reason for the lack of a gratuity written on a receipt.
"Can't tip someone who doesn't love Jesus! Bad tatoo [sic]" wrote the customer, instead of a tip, for Samantha Heaton, who bears rainbow-coloured equality bars on her arm, and has been serving at Buffalo Wild Wings for a year.
"It was shocking. I couldn't help but feel hurt," Samantha told the BBC. "I would've openly discussed my tattoo with them, had they asked. I talked to them about their food. They kept me constantly busy, but were not openly rude to me. I've never had someone write anything like this."

I tip less for a waiter or waitress with lip or tongue piercings.
Just because someplace calls itself a church, doesn't mean they are Christians or teaching Christian doctrine.
I’m not sure where you get your data. While homosexuals are welcome to attend many churches, most churches certainly do not accept their behavior, and that of other sins.
Open homosexuals would not be welcome to join membership at most churches. It would go against everything they stand for.
And the waitress may not have gotten a tip, but I assure you, there was no message left on the receipt.
“The tip is given for good service and nothing more.”
Yes, if the diner is a right-thinking person. (Right as in correct.)
Nope. Most of these are scams/frauds. A way attention whores to scam moron snowflakes out of their money. If you did not legitimately get a tip it was probably due to really service.
Another con job.
Happened to me twice at two different restaurants. Another incident was pretty funny; stayed at a motel and the Indian guy ran my Amex card to buy some Indian food online to be delivered to him at that motel. Amex caught it because it was for 7,5000RLS (Indian money) and I have a hundred dollar “call me limit” ....
Yep.
Comment is written in blue ink. The signature in black.
Fake. Fakity, fake, fake, fake.
You don’t believe this because these things a pretty much always a hoax.
That's an interesting point. We basically have tipping backwards. If we want to ensure promptness, we really should be tipping before the meal, not afterwards. I've actually tried this a couple times and it seems to work. I was taking some co-workers out to dinner after work one night and wanted to act the big shot so I pressed a $20 bill into the waiters hand right at the beginning and told him we would likely have several rounds of drinks during the meal. I can tell you the drinks came fast and furious from that point on. Even threw in some free appetizers "on the house." He ended up with an even bigger tip at the end.
I lived in the Rockford area for 15 years, and lived in Rockford proper for eight. I would believe the not tipping for the homo tats, but the phrase about Our Lord sounds more televangelisty than the blue-collar anti-pervert folks in Rockford. Based on the wording, I am doubtful about the story.
Why is the signature in a different color ink than the “note” and tip amounts?
I smell a hoax.
I personally do not believe this story and I would not do what is claimed in the story.
but In fairness, hey, it sounds like she got served an un-gay wedding cake.
Fair is fair, right..?
It turns out that when it gets turned around on them, they don’t like it.
99.9 percent of these stories are fake.
