Those numbers would not convince you of their argument, only the argument against the article. Those numbers need be applied to the American citizens not employed in the positions taken up by immigrants.

IMO, as illegals continue to self-deport, we'll see public-facing services - think hospitals, schools, local and state gov't agencies, and so on - with significant budget windfalls over the next couple of years.

Of course, that money will be plowed back into bigger buildings, nicer offices for the admins, and so on and so on. Taxpayers will never see a dime.

But - next year, depending on the number of illegals that were in your area, watch your local gov't agencies like the DMV, schools, or local city government buildings, see if there's new construction or renovation. :-)

Let's focus on per capita GDP, and consider the massive reduction in gubmint payments like welfare, Medicaid, education, earned income credit, food stamps, housing benefits and social security. Laughably they say it's bad for the economy to substitute employable tax paying immigrants for uneducated non English speaking gimmedats.

GDP per AMERICAN will grow more quickly.

If you want a lot of growth in the economy and a lot of growth among poor people, bring in competitors for low paying jobs from Mexico.

Selective immigration by highly educated people from civilized,English speaking countries (Canada,Britain,Australia,etc,etc) may very well be in our best interest.Physicians,computer experts,skilled engineers would contribute to the nation.
