CHICAGO – Police say charges are now pending against a homeowner who shot and killed three intruders inside his Southeast Side home.
The homeowner told police three people broke into his home Sunday night through the basement and he acted in self-defense, shooting the alleged intruders before locking himself inside a room and calling police.
When police arrived at the scene at 103rd and south Ewing, they found the bodies of a 22-year-old man, 24-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy inside.
One was shot in the head, the others were shot multiple times.
So far police won’t say exactly what the homeowner is being charged with, but he did have a valid firearms card.
I say give the guy a medal. It is our right to protect our homes and families.

A pity he lives in Chicago, if he was from Texas (or any other rural red state), the sheriff would have complemented his shooting skills, pat him on the back and that would have been the end of it....
I would not judge so quickly. The presence of the female is a cause for caution. Women have been involved in B&Es with men before but it is not often at all. I suspect you are right but I would want more information such as evidence of the break-in or evidence that the three were brought in. It could conceivably be satisfaction (as opposed to collection) of a bad drug debt, for instance.

As I understand it, Illinois does not have a stand your ground or castle doctrine. If I understand correctly, the home owner has a duty to retreat if possible.
The fact that a woman was involved suggests that it might not be what it seems.

I am 100% with the shooter and defender of his property and life but the “multiple shot” thing should raise some eyebrows.
If the perps were shot at close range several times that might be a tough situation for the gun owner EVEN THOUGH if it were me, I’d empty the clip into all of them...
Maybe. But remember the chick that was video taping the kid get tortured earlier this year? That was in Chicago. I don’t think the women are that much less dangerous in environments like that. Then again, they were just as likely all a bunch of murderous felons. who knows?
It will be interesting to see if something else was going down when this happened. If it was a break in though, they would still make this guys life miserable for protecting himself. The neighborhood where this happened is a bit sketchy, but I don’t remember it being ultra high crime like some of the neighborhoods just to the north of it.
