Information here that I didn't put together before. They had all their permits and when it was too late for them to get out without being harmed McCaullife declared a "State of Emergency" which apparently invalidated their permit. Point made that any gathering was "unlawful" yet nobody else was told to disperse.

Sounds to me like McCaullife didn't like losing in the courts so he caused a violent riot instead.

I know personally that in the 1970s after the 1968 riots, police were trained in what was called “RIOT CONTROL”.

In the 1980s and 1990s that training was re-classified to
“CROWD CONTROL” in order to give a more softer name to what was basically the same riot control police training.

In the 21st Century that training was modified to be gentler and kinder with that training now called:

“CROWD MANAGEMENT”

However, recently after ‘Ferguson’ and Michael Brown, police are receiving training in:

‘Standing around’, ‘watching’, (The three monkeys method of police operation today - ‘Hear no evil, See no evil, say no evil’ - with ‘Run and hide’ as the official ‘Retreat’ method ordered by directive per orders to their police chiefs from Democrat run city political leaders.

My son wanted to go to this rally, ( he's neither a Nazi or a Commie ). My wife and I advised against it. We told him that there would be "operatives" that would ensure this thing went to sh*t. Surprise !

I grew up in the SF Bay Area. My older brothers and I used to go fishing at the Berkeley Pier or go to a bookstore, named oddly enough, Castro's on University Ave. to look for old comic books.

There was an assumption that police would allow a retreat to the north in the event of a rally cancellation, no one imagined the police would choose to facilitate a clearly violent situation and force the two sides into uncontrolled contact. This looks like it was done with the intent to deny civil rights of a legal protest, in direct defiance of a federal court order. We were set up and trapped, then pushed into a kill zone full of hostile armed enemies. Every injury at this event was due to to the nonsensical withdrawal order of the police.
