Sessions Says ‘Evil Attack’ in Virginia Is Domestic Terrorism
The New York Times ^ | 8/14/2017 | EILEEN SULLIVAN

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Monday that the “evil attack” in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend meets the legal definition of an act of domestic terrorism, an early declaration in an investigation after a car plowed into a crowd of protesters.

“It does meet the definition of domestic terrorism in our statute,” Mr. Sessions said on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” referring to a fatal attack on Saturday when a vehicle drove into a crowd protesting white nationalists, killing one woman and injuring others. A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged by Virginia authorities with second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and failing to stop at the scene of a crash that resulted in a death.

“You can be sure we will charge and advance the investigation toward the most serious charges that can be brought because this is unequivocally an unacceptable evil attack,” Mr. Sessions said, adding that terrorism and civil rights investigators were working on the case.

Mr. Sessions appeared on several morning news shows on Monday, condemning the violent demonstrations over the removal of a Confederate monument and defending President Trump’s response.

Is there a single public figure in America who is even mildly curious about facts or looking into what occurred before mouthing off? It is disturbing, the collective fear assumption group think.

Sessions apparently has an Obama style understanding of acting on current events before getting any relevant information. Guy hasn’t even had a bond hearing yet or given an interview.

Critical thinking is dead. Our government is at the maturity level of a 15 year old. We are in really dangerous waters.

Most of the white people there were patriotic Americans upset by the pending removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee.

I suspect that the few with Nazi flags, armbands, KKK signs, etc. were paid plants courtesy of George Soros.

Kowtowing like the Republican senator he was. And now we’re stuck with him because the senate would never approve the kind of AG that is needed, because that AG might come after them for THEIR crimes.

I guess we don't have a friend at court.

Conservatism is in reaction mode yet again. Letting the other side define the debate and the terms and even the facts.

First issue: Fire him. He's been helpless and useless in every way.

Sessions has done some good things so far, but in the end, he has been in D.C. far too long. He may not be a swamp creature, but he has a bit of the taint on him, for sure. But, he can't be fired since the Senate tied Trump's hands for now. What he can do is to start going after the Leftist corruption in D.C. that is hiding in plain sight. He has a friendly FBI director in place, so there are no more excuses for not doing so.

Sorry, even then it is not terrorism. It remains vehicular homicide or even a lesser charge depending on the facts entered into evidence. But it was not terrorism. That word is bandied about far too much and calling any violent act by a lone individual against a group of people with different political view terrorism is erroneous.

Jeff: Even convicted murderers have a right to speak, and do. The only ones who don’t or can’t are those that disagree with the Democrats.

Let's argue from the perspective of an affirmation of heritage, rather than eat our own, because some are less willing to focus on that affirmation.

I’m still wondering if a BLM bullet brought down the helicopter with the cops! Can’t wait for that to be decided.

Yeah, my understanding is that Robert E. Lee was a Virginian first and he joined the confederacy because Virginia was a state in the confederacy. If Virginia had been in the Union he would have joined the union army.

I don’t understand these people who want to remove confederate monuments. It’s seems to be something liberal politicians support to score easy political points and divert the public’s attention from the bad conditions in many democrat-run cities. We should not be tearing down old historic monuments. The confederacy was 152 years ago and US society has advanced greatly since then. It’s just history now. I’m a history buff and I love to look at old monuments and buildings, especially because we don’t many monuments or buildings built before 1900 out here in the far west. 80% of our architecture is post WW II. It’s just dumb, pointless, and somewhat Orwellian to be destroying historical monuments and trying to erase history. There’s no need to apologize for history and heritage, but it’s the right tactics to condemn this violence that happened last weekend.

Exactly. Terrorism is meant to cause fear in people just living everyday life. This guy’s actions doesn’t instill fear in me, because in my everyday life I don’t go out in the street and throw rocks and urine bags at people I don’t agree with.
