I do remember seeing people back off from being my friend as soon as they find out I’m a lawyer. Now that I’m retired and my kids gone, I don’t care anymore. I’m okay with isolating most of the time. Probably not healthy but we’ll see how it works as I age.
I truly enjoy people but I’ve learned to be careful about who I let into my life.
I think you’ll be just fine! I can tell that you’re nice just from seeing you here at FR!
(One of my best friends is a retired attorney. She’s a hoot!)

I was a CFO and had the same experience sometimes. When I first met people I’d just say I was an accountant. But in the end, I never really had that much in common with most people with whom my success would matter to them. Believe me, I wasn’t given anything and had to work hard to get where I was and I always encouraged young people to do the same in whatever they wanted in life.
