Conservative Millennial Women Are Here... [A Liberal Begins To Understand! Good Read!]

Conservative Millennial Women Are Here For Female Empowerment—Just Don't Call Them Feminists

Recently I spent two days at the hub of conservatism in Washington, D.C. Nope, not the White House, but the Heritage Foundation for the Network of Enlightened Women’s National Conference—also known as NeW—where a group of college-aged conservative females gathered to discuss and learn about Republican policy and leadership. And yes, Kellyanne Conway was there.

As a 24-year-old liberal woman who cried watching Hillary Clinton lose the election live at New York’s Javits Center, this wasn’t a room I ever thought I’d find myself in, and my preconceived notions ran rampant—all I could think was that I didn’t have the right clothes, let alone the bandwidth for the mental gymnastics it would take to talk to women about Donald Trump without combusting.

On the day of the conference, swathed in a pastel tweed blazer and kitten heels, I found myself in a room of 50-plus excited, chatty, diverse women. I saw girls with nose rings, in large hipster glasses, with dreadlocks. Few to none were wearing pearls.

Snowflakes melt easily.

We all know this is a thinly veiled hit piece. None of us are naive and better writers than this author has tried to deceive.

In an effort to empower, I found the harsh realities of being a woman largely ignored.

That is the nut of the problem.

The first reality is that men are men and women are women. The differences are manifest, however if a person does not accept the differences they cannot go on to the next step and that is to work as if you have accepted it and you calculate all your strengths and move on.

People who forever have to moan that they don't have the same genitals as the people who are supposedly in power, in essence, they will not get very far.

It is much more productive to listen to someone because they say intelligent and interesting things to say. At that point sexual plumbing becomes moot because the matter has been dispensed with.

The author has made a somewhat begrudging effort to bypass her education in sexual stereotypes. I hope she continues to get to know real women who have made the transition based on ideas that matter.

Left out of the entire conversation in this article is the insane leftist feminist embrace of militant islam, while bashing American males non-stop. If I was a woman, that would be a big deal to me!

The non-existent “pay gap” is as much an article of faith for the left as hatred of conservatives and abortion so there is no sense trying to engage these simpletons in a discussion about it.

It might have been helpful to hear this author’s opinions on Sarah Palin. Liberals want “equality” but fail to grant it to people with whom they disagree.

Yes, comparing the total earnings of men and women at a certain age without regard for any other factor makes as much sense as comparing the total earnings of electrical engineers and electrician’s helpers without regard to any other factor.

... and how would these women like it if men had the same self-serving, gender-based objectives and goals as they do, putatively conservative or not? After enduring this sort of propaganda all my working life, I’m no longer impressed with women who want to take opportunity away from me and give it to themselves, and I’m not at all sure why anyone else is.

Exactly my take on it. She is slightly more sympathetic to them now that she met a few, but she is patronizing and still thinks that deep down they are delusional. She still cannot conceive of their POV no matter how balanced she pretends to be.

Very much worth the read.

And kudos to Glamour for greenlighting this and not turning it into a hit piece.

“harsh realities”...really? Sure, we’re not in a perfect world but let’s come back down to earth:

- You have food in your stomach
- You have clothes on your back
- You have a roof over your head
- You have clean drinking water
- You are blessed with modern conveniences; heat, air-conditioning, cars, smartphones, refrigerators, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. ............ etc. etc. etc.!!!
- You live like a queen compared to 99.9999999999999999999% of people THAT HAVE EVER LIVED!!!
- You have the right to vote
- You have constitutionally protected rights not guaranteed anywhere else, defended by mostly men

That these people would describe this existence as having “harsh realities” makes me want to puke. To anybody in history, “harsh realities” would include:

- Starving
- Always too cold or hot
- Persecution
- Slavery
- Political imprisonment
- No rights
- Expectations of being raped
- Expectations of being murdered
- ...maybe in a gruesome manner

Don’t claim to not be a snowflake young lady! Please just don’t!

By warning people that contrary opinions are emotionally fraught and potentially going to trigger emotional insanity, liberals are priming people to over-react to contrary opinions in addition to poisoning the well, making their believers be conditioned against giving any weight to anything an unbeliever (conservative) says.
Liberals are also training people to act out the behavior of the mentally ill. That if someone disagrees it MUST be racism/sexism/bias, that if they say something you don’t like, assume ill intent.

Thanks for posting this. I met Karin Agness founder of NeW as an undergrad at UVA. She and a few other young women set up a booth and were commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall and passing out Reagan pins. Liked her from the start. She went on the attend UVA Law and move to DC. Although she was a bit ahead of her time I definitely sense a bit of sea change among millennials politically.
