US could wipe out North Korea in 15 minutes, says Gen. Tom McInerney

FOX NEWS - Retired Gen. Tom McInerney on Monday said the United States has the capability to take out every city in North Korea, if Kim Jong Un were to fire artillery into Seoul, South Korea.

“If he gets our full nuclear retaliatory capability, within minutes after one round going into Seoul, there will be nothing left,” McInerney told Liz Claman on “Countdown to the Closing Bell.” “If you go to Airborne Alert—we used to call it “Chrome Dome”—with nuclear weapons and then we start building up our other forces, et cetera, he will not last 15 minutes.”

The Hermit Kingdom announced Monday it will take “thousands-fold” revenge against the United States after the United Nations imposed new sanctions on the communist country on Saturday. The resolution, approved unanimously by the Security Council on Saturday, comes as a result of Pyongyang’s repeated ballistic missile tests and efforts to develop a nuclear warhead. The sanctions are aimed at the country’s economy, including stopping the expansions of joint ventures and the exports of coal, lead, lead ore, iron, iron ore and seafood.....

Does that include use of nukes...or just conventional? IMO it would be unwise for us to use nukes except in response to them using them first.

Not only that, China wouldn’t be the near super-power that they are today. They would still be the backwards communist country before Truman’s boneheaded decision.

MacArthur wanted to go to war into China, with nukes. Is it your position that Truman should have backed down to a General with a repeated record of failure?

We haven’t had US troops on the DMZ in a long time.

It was MacArthur’s heading for the Yalu that got him fired. The issue was not about wanting to take out the North Korean government, it was his provoking China to enter the war.

My husband personally owns a piece of the Pueblo. He spent thirteen months in Kunsan Korea, “protecting” Americas interest with AF 121st tactical fighter group, actually our first twelve months of marriage. LOL

True, except that China intervened.

Everyone is getting whipped up by the media and Trump’s tweets, calm down. This hysteria is nonsense and downright dangerous.

Too many headline readers are completely ignorant of the NK capabilities. NK must be having a big laugh at all our headlines.

The most powerful NK missile, only in theory, could reach about Kansas City, with no payload bigger than a jar of kimchee.

They would have to have another missile stage added on to provide more fuel in boost.

Their best missiles so far are all “truck” launched. They don’t have a truck big enough for a bigger missile. If they did, a bigger heavier missile would get damaged joyriding around NK.

They would have to go to a silo launch with onsite liquid fueling. That’s what every other nuclear power does that wants nukes delivered.

NK has no silos, if they did we would know. Also, all of their orbital apogee missiles have burned up on re-entry, they don’t have adequate heat shields, yet.

Let’s all calm down.

Nuke North Korea and the nuclear fallout would devastate South Korea and Japan, or China and Russia depending on the winds. I don’t think those countries would be too happy about it.

Agreed.

But I don’t recommend waiting until they are further along and actually have serious capability. I don’t think this problem is going away and I don’t think they will stop adding capability. Unless we do something.

The problem is the body count. What American President wants several million corpses of women and children on his record? Its a puzzlement.

I sure hope we’re sure NK doesn’t have a kill switch on our critical software systems via their relentless hacking. And how many NK’s INSIDE the U.S. waiting to go into action against us? PROBABLY ALL ALLOWED IN BY OBAMA DURING THE PAST 8 YEARS, like the Russian attorney and the AWANS, ISIS cells and MS-13 and God knows who else..

If MacArthur wasn’t so dense, China probably wouldn’t have invaded and driven us back to the border where were are to this day.
They were convinced we were coming on into Manchuria.

If someone like Ridgeway with a brain would have been in the place of that showboat MacArthur, its likely there would BE no North Korea today.

Truman was right about him.

People seem to forget that the ROK Army and US forces both have plenty of artillery to attack North Korean batteries with. It won’t just be NK firing on an unarmed city. Also, US and ROK air power is significantly stronger and more modern than North Korea’s.

The way I see it, if the ROK and US engaged the Norks, the Norks would lose, of course. But PRC would intervene near the end of it and again, drive the US back to the 39th parallel, thereby giving the PRC a buffer, once again, from the US/ROK. The PRC hates the Norks like everyone else, but would never let a US ally right on the PRC border.

Repeated record of failure? He conducted more amphibious assaults than any other general in history, every one a success.

Before MacArthur, amphibious assault was synonymous with epic failure like at Gallipoli and Dieppe.

Only failure was Philippines in 41', but then that was Kimmel and Short in Hawaii that screwed him and put his possibility of reinforcement in the mud.
