Former President Barack Obama got a special treat for his birthday this year - his very own holiday.
Governor Bruce Rauner signed into law Friday a measure to designate Aug. 4 as "Barack Obama Day" across Illinois.
The newest state holiday will be celebrated each year on the 44th president's birthday, beginning in 2018.
The holiday will be "observed throughout the State as a day set apart to honor the 44th President of the United States of America who began his career serving the People of Illinois in both the Illinois State Senate and the United States Senate, and dedicated his life to protecting the rights of Americans and building bridges across communities," Senate Bill 55 reads.
While several lawmakers abstained from voting on the measure, it passed both houses earlier this year without a single vote against.

Democrats' efforts to make Obama’s birthday a legal state holiday – during which schools and state offices would close, while banks and businesses could, but would not be required to close – stalled after some lawmakers voiced concern that other Illinois presidents, like Reagan, do not have similar holidays. Republicans, including Rauner, also noted the economic cost of closing state buildings on the holiday, and the impact of workers having the day off.
Chicago is noted for its high murder and mayhem rate on holidays. Hope this doesn’t set a new record for bloodshed.
In that case, they should go for an ‘Al Capone Day’.
This should be a national holiday, except have it on January 21.

followed immediately by bending over and ramming their respective heads up their own asses.
Its a sight to behold, if slightly stinky.

Illinois wanted to create a Bring Your LBTGXYZ Kid To Work Day. it named it Barack Obama Day.

This is a day for the lazy, the personally unaccomplished and the professionally unremarkable to rise in celebration of their own mediocrity, but to do so with as much hubris and preening as possible, and then just a tad more.
