When elected officials, at both the federal and state levels, propose new gun control laws we are given the same speech every time. Stop crying wolf. Its not as if armed officers are about to go door to door confiscating everyones guns.
Well
dont. Yet another story has emerged from New York State detailing the travails of a citizen who had his firearms taken away by armed officers with a warrant. The NRA-ILA brings us the tale of Don Hall, a 70 year old Vietnam veteran who received an unpleasant visit from Sheriffs deputies at his Talberg, N.Y. home. They informed him that the state had provided them with a writ to seize his firearms. Compliance was not voluntary and his weapons were taken.

Where is the (actual, literal) money part of the story?
This is why gun registration is just a bad idea.
The Second Amendment was originally intended to be an absolute right not abridged by any of the common “Blue State” gun bans on categories of people and or the permitting system of “Open Carry” or “Concealed Carry” that’s commonly used in the “Red States” either.
When elected officials, at both the federal and state levels, propose new gun control laws , we are given nothing but horse hockey.
Man, Hot Air is a total shell of its formerly self. It used to be my 2nd favorite place to go.
Hmmm. Well, since the person affected was “labled/classified” as a mental defective, it would seem to me that a certain former congress person from AZ would also be classified as such. And a current AZ senator as well since he’s having some radiation treatment to his remaining brain cells. Money shot for me.
Weapons? What weapons? I had some guns at one time — never used as weapons, by the way — but those were lost years ago in the flood. Or was it the tornado? Anyway, thanks for your time, officers. Now best be on your way.
...remaining brain CELL!
FIXED IT!
Roger that. Money money money. Or something.
And it was a liberal one at that.
So they compared lists of people with guns with people convicted of disqualifying events (not necessarily a crime) and DoJ agents went to the house to seize the firearm(s). But here's the joke, it was voluntary. Of course they didn't tell you that. They yell and threaten but the 4th Amendment is still in some kind of effect and without a search warrant they CANNOT enter your house and (here's the catch) your name showing up in a computer printout is not probably cause for issuance of a search warrant.
Net net: be polite but firm. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. Ask for a search warrant. If one is not forthcoming, wish them a nice day and studiously ignore them afterwards. Eventually they will move on.
Liberal Tears...
True Comedy!
What sane people would consider reasonable restrictions like maybe age of the unborn, licensure, proper health inspections or maybe even fully informed consent and they come against it with fury unmatched by any group except maybe ISIS regarding other religions.
They continue to hold the “legal” ground 40 plus years since Roe v Wade because they give no ground, ever for anything.
We pick up stuff at yard sales all the time...right now we are looking for a flag pole because a dear elderly friend gave me her RIP husband's flag that they handed to her at the military funeral. She wants us to fly it.
And these will be used as monthly bonus prizes to the officer who writes the most tickets that month.
Yeah, someone could learn a thing or two about tenacity.
Don Hall was labeled a mental defective leading to the seizure of his property. But the documents the Sheriffs presented had obvious flaws, including multiple Social Security numbers. It was a long and arduous journey to discover the hospital where a clerical error was made entering Dons information instead of a patient who was being treated for mental health issues. So this turned out to be a bureaucratic blunder, but its hardly an isolated case.
He registered the guns with the state as required by law. There was a database error caused by government incompetence and he became an illegal gun owner because of what the VA database said. The cops showed up with the proper paperwork (under state law) to take his property.
He had to sue to get them back.
