Attorney General Jeff Sessions to hold news conference on leak investigations Friday
CBS News ^

Posted on 08/04/2017 3:32:48 AM PDT by bryan999

Attorney General Jeff Sessions will hold a press conference announcing on-going leak investigations on Friday.

The investigations into various government leaks have "been in the works for some time," an official familiar with the matter told CBS News' Paula Reid.

It is expected that leaks related to the Manchester terror attack will be part of the Justice Department's investigation, as well as other leaks of sensitive information to the media.

Sessions recently faced criticism from President Trump for not being "tougher on the leaks from the intelligence agencies."

While it is atypical for the Department of Justice to announce investigations, the attorney general issued a statement in May hinting at potential leak investigations.

"These leaks cannot be tolerated and we will make every effort to put an end to it," Sessions' statement reads, referencing the Manchester terror attack leaks. "We have already initiated appropriate steps to address these rampant leaks that undermine our national security."

I’m afraid he views them as “friends and colleagues (from across the aisle)” rather than criminals to be prosecuted.

Regarding Trump's judgement in appointing inside-the-beltway types like Sessions, Priebus, Pence, etc., he was and remains a political outsider. As such, he needed help navigating swamp waters. He also was trying to unify the Republicans behind him. Bringing such people on board was his good-faith attempt to accomplish those goals. Little did he know the swamp denizens would work as Trojan horses for their swamp brethren.

Hillary let the cat out of the bag with her "Deplorables" speech. Swamp denizens might wear different labels on the outside, but inside their only loyalties are to each other. Everyone else, including Trump, his supporters, common Dem voters, everyone, are all dirt under their feet. We are only useful to them as voters, nothing more. They hate us.

kabar, you are not up to speed. You’ve already been corrected on the matter of the Dulles arrest which is one of thousands of details that you are not aware of.

I also was once a Sessions cheerleader as you are now. I have seen many Freepers that I respect and admire turn from cheerleaders to executioners as have I. Now how does that happen? It happens because of a growing awareness of a lack of integrity. Sessions should have resigned as soon as he recused himself. That would have shown integrity.

It doesn’t matter the accolades that Sessions has others write about himself. Any live body sitting in the AG chair can tally up a list of accomplishments. It doesn’t matter.

The only thing that matters is the damage Sessions did the Trump presidency by accepting the job, recusing himself, followed by failing to resign in a timely manner.

We can all praise a truth teller of a thousand truths but as soon as our fabled truth teller tells a lie, even a little lie, our praise becomes garbage.

Sessions has become garbage.

Zer0 set up the federal intelligence system to store every electronic communication in America in a data base. Dem holdouts are dipping into the data bank and mining anything they can get on President Trump.

No kabar, the story is buried with a few squeaks here and there, but it is buried for all practical purposes.

No, it is not buried. Have you been following for weeks the reports from the Daily Caller Investigation Team that has led the way on revealing this scandal. Check out the links in this DC article. They include primary source material like court documents. Luke Rosiak deserves a Pulizer for his investigative reporting.

Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis, who chairs the House oversight panel’s national security subcommittee is pushing for a deeper investigation of the Awan case.

Trust me, the Awan that was arrested will skate. He has already had his charges altered, released on bail without the identity of the bail poster. He has a very high profile Clinton attorney representing him. His appearance at his arraignment was CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC! No photos were taken as no photos were allowed and reporters were not allowed to get close. The entire ordeal smells to high heavens and was predicted because there is no one working the case in the AG’s office.

Disagree. Awan will not skate. He may receive reduced charges if he cooperates with federal officials and reveals the full extent of his crimes, especially working with foreign intelligence agencies and others. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Exactly what is it you expect Sessions to announce? Sorry, I’ve got little faith in him.

And what “process” would that be, Bert? Hmmm? Pseudo investigations that drag on for years as make-work projects for assorted swamp dwellers? Pseudo investigations that produce little, if any results and drag on so long no one remembers their purpose as they quietly peter out? I could go on with similar questions, but why bother. My cynicism and distrust in the political-news complex has been growing for some time. What is being done to President Trump has brought my cynicism to astronomical levels and my trust to lower than zero if that’s possible.

Here is a link that works for the Daily Caller investigation of the AWN scandal

Sessions should have resigned as soon as he recused himself. That would have shown integrity.

BS. Why should he? If Trump was unhappy about it, he should have fired him. Sessions serves at the discretion of the President.

Sessions was and is Trump's best appointment. He doesn't deserve to be a scapegoat.

Gregg Jarrett, Fox News reporter covering the Mueller story, said that Sessions was considering recusal before he even was put forth as a nominee.

He should have told President Trump at that time not waiting until after confirmation.

Sessions sandbagged Trump right out of the gate.

He’s responsible for this special counsel coup and he’s refusing to step down. Let that sink in.

He’s a beady-eyed rat bastard controlled by the corrupt state.

Yes, I have known of Rosiak and the Daily Caller well before you I am sure. What you are missing is the Daily Caller’s circulation poses no threat to the establishment and its willful ignorance.

Rosiak and Pulitzer are irrelevant without an AG doing the job that needs to be done. That’s another point you are missing.

I know for a fact that practically every staffer and member in Congress have no knowledge of who the hell Rosiak is.

In fact, Webb & Goodman walked and videoed the halls of Congress months back only to find that practically no one knew who the Awans were.

Stupidity is a condition marked by an inability to learn. Try not to fall into that category.

Now watch in less than one hour from now Sessions bleep his bleep and disappoint the informed public.

Yesterday, Mueller convened a grand jury and the Senate blocked President Trump from making recess appointments. The coup is on.

Aug-Sep-Oct-Nov-Dec-Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr-May-Ju-Jul-Aug-Sep-Oct

and then the November 2018 mid-term elections. That entire timeline is in the hands of script writers who will write scene after scene after scene vying for a Congress that will impeach President Trump on some rottenness as the American Psychiatric Association certifying he’s nuts and therefore, unfit for office.

But there is a way still for President Trump to prevail:

1. Fire Sessions
2. Fire Rosenstein
3. Bring in Rachel Brand as acting AG
4. Compel Rachel Brand to hire a ‘special counsel’ to investigate the Awans, Clinton, Weiner-Abedin, Podesta, Comey, Lynch, McCabe and others.

Read about Rachel here:

Sessions sandbagged Trump right out of the gate.

Sessions was sworn in on February 9 and issued his recusal statement on March 2nd after consulting with DOJ's Ethics Office that recommended recusal. Even Giuliani said he would have recused himself under the circumstances.

He’s responsible for this special counsel coup and he’s refusing to step down. Let that sink in.

The Special Counsel was appointed after Trump fired Comey.

He’s a beady-eyed rat bastard controlled by the corrupt state.BS. I have worked with Sessions office for almost 10 years as part of a grassroots immigration organization that lobbies on the Hill. I have never met a public official with more integrity. The GOPe hates him and McConnell screwed him on being the Chair of the Judiciary Committee after the Reps took back the Senate. Sessions is not part of the Washington swamp. He is trying to drain it and has been for years.

It was Sessions early endorsement that put the Trump train in high gear. It was the transfer early on of Stephen Miller from Sessions staff to the Trump campaign that provided the necessary policy specifics on trade and immigration. Miller wrote the position papers on both immigration and trade.

And it was Sessions 2014 brilliant article, Becoming the Party of Work--How the GOP can help struggling Americans, and itself, that provided the template for the Trump victory. It should be required reading for every Rep running for elective office.

LOL. I read the Daily Caller every day and have done so for years. Drudge has linked to the DC articles on Awan. And the NYT has felt compelled to cover the case because of the growing public awareness of the case.

Trump Fuels Intrigue Surrounding a Former I.T. Worker’s Arrest

The DC responded with this article, Media Ditches Substance Of Wasserman Schultz FBI Boondoggle To Focus On Conspiracy Theories

Now watch in less than one hour from now Sessions bleep his bleep and disappoint the informed public.

Criminal referrals have tripled. Four people have already been charged with leaking. More resources devoted to the effort. I am not disappointed.

“Yeah! Leaks are bad! We’re really on it!” doesn’t cut it, Jeff.

I want to see people named and arrested, not hear Sessions read a prepared statement about what a great job they’re doing (when everyone can see that they’re NOT).

Lets be honest...if they were going to lay the smackdown, they wouldn’t be doing it on a Friday.

Complete and utter useless waste of time and I bet Trump is thinking the same thing.
