Mom to state: My daughter's weight is none of your business (GA)

The school said it required students to be between the 5 and 85 percentiles as far as BMI, which is marked in the nutrition category, and her daughter was in the 94 percentile.

After Dickens' husband received the letter in the mail, he immediately called his wife and asked, "So, is the school calling our kid fat?"

The letter required Dickens to bring her daughter to her pediatrician for further evaluation for her nutrition and must provide proof to the school that she did so.

"I understand hearing and vision because that affects their ability to be educated the proper way,” Dickens said.

In other words, one in five students needs a doctor’s not that their weight is okay. That is shockingly stupid. There are a lot of kids with weight issues, but this will not help to solve the problem.

Nazis. Our public schools were modeled on the old Prussian totalitarian crap. The modern schools that dare to believe they rule over a parent are un-American.

A lot of this intensified under Moochelle Obama. They started inspecting lunches parents made at home for their kids and forbidding some foods!

I'd be willing to wager that close to a majority of the faculty and admin of that school need to send themselves a fat enforcement letter, while they sit on their voluminous patooties in judgement because they can't stand long enough to stand in judgment.

BMI is nonsense...

According to BMI, I should be 162 pounds...

I am heavly muscled and big boned...

Even when I in prime shape, very little fat, I was about 210 lbs...

I’m pretty sure 162 lbs It would have made me sickly...

It says nothing about height. Time to home school. Why does the school system think it is their business.

OH YOU JUST TRY COMING AFTER MY DAUGHTER.

Bring it. She is five, does three sports, and is at 90th %ile for height and weight. No fat on her, she is as big as an eight year old and can do pull ups.

Come on public school, tell me this beautiful athletic baby is too fat. JUST TRY!

Remember, BMI for children takes into account AGE. My special needs child is TINY. His BMI was probably zero. He was never even on the weight chart, yet his height and weight were fine for HIM.

And his sister is a big gorgeous 95%. No fat. Just the size of a girl 3 years older.

Pediatric groups and “Children’s Hospitals” are run by the hard left. Beware.

Government schools are evil.

Every liberal is a violent totalitarian thug.

Adolphine Obama criticized and shamed an Olympic gold medalist for wanting McDonalds after the 2012 olympics. Evil. Pure evil.

Just have them write a note “from Epstein’s Doctor” (like the old show welcome back Kotter) - ‘Dear teacher, their daughter is not fat. Signed, Epstein’s Doctor’.

It seems like anyone who attains any sort of job with public responsibilities IMMEDIATELY becomes an insufferable prick who is never wrong about anything and who only issues orders and or “reviews processes”. Im getting tired of these fecking damned asses.

Sorry, bud, but new research says your gut is your second brain.

All your Molecules are belonging to us. That free little eye test and hearing test isn’t so innocuous after all...if they can measure it they want to control it.

[BMI is nonsense...]

When I was 31 at 6’ 2” I weighed 195 and looked like a strong wind would blow me away. According to BMI, I was “overweight” (25). My waist was 33”.

#6: "According to BMI, I should be 162 pounds … I am heavly muscled and big boned"

Exactly. Most legitamate BMI tables state explicitly that the chart is only accurate for average muscle and bone strucutre. It usually stipulates that big bones and/or heavy muscle queers the chart.

What your kid weighs is none of your school district’s business, PERIOD!

And if the school district has a problem with this, then vote out all of the school board, and fire all of the teachers and administrators.

If the voters in that municipality won’t or refuse to do that, then they deserve to suffer under the tyrants that they keep supporting.

I’ve read stories where the kid was as thin as a rail and was sent home with a letter saying he was over weight.

I know, I am about six four barefoot and weigh 240. According to those charts I am 52 pounds overweight! I wear size 36 waist pants and 2XL shirts. I am 73 and most males who are young enough to be my grandson wish they could look as good from the neck down as I do. I am so fat that when I move my fingers you can see every muscle in the forearm ripple. I go to the gym three times a week and work an average of 27 hours a week at a job that has me on my feet a lot outside. If I tried to drop down to what the chart says I should weigh my wife would go hysterical on me. At that weight I would need suspenders to hold my pants up because a belt would not work. I may drop to 225 pounds but I don’t anticipate going lower than that.
