Religious people's minds are dominated by emotion and not analytical thinking which makes them cling to their views - even when evidence proves them wrong - a study claims. Such 'Emotional resonance' can make individuals hold on to their faith. Meanwhile, militant atheists are completely negative about religion because they have analytical brains, according to researchers.

The results showed religious participants as a whole had a higher level of dogmatism, empathetic concern and pro-social intentions, while the nonreligious performed better on the measure of analytic reasoning.

I guess that means that atheists must employ "reason" before experiencing empathy.

One of 572 reasons why I deeply pity atheists.

Something that Billy Graham said years ago, “Religion isn’t about proof. It’s about faith.”

Atheists know there is no such thing as absolute truth.

. . . But apparently, they believe that statement is absolutely true.

There is no evidence that has caused me to deny my faith.

I am not the one that has to rewrite my books every few years. I have not sucked on govt teats for money making an entire career on an incorrect idea only to find my entire lifes work to be based on junk.

Yep. As a Christian, I cling to certain beliefs. Why? Because I do not want to return to the empty, dark, sinful life I once lived. To do so would be idiotic, no?

Just what if religious behaviors are a downstream reaction to THE supernatural and transcendental Presence some have attained by their choice and surrender? What if it’s not caused by a derived process by the mind, but it is the mind that is involuntarily directed by the Radiance that one cannot look away from or just shut off for the rest of their lives and all eternity?

Can’t place that opened Door into anyone else like a specimen on a microscope slide, so it must be all in the mind from the perspective of EVERYONE that is not in possession of the Door.

Some are given the gift of the Holy Spirit, some are not.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 Only the Holy Spirit can instigate that kind of faith.

Atheists (as distinct from agnostics) very often start from an unproven premise of dogmatic deterministic materialism.

It's simply a presupposition. Unproven and unprovable.

Were the non-religious asked about their belief in things that cannot be proven such as ghosts, reincarnation and global warming?

Ya, islam is a religion of peace, except for the inconvenient truths you mentioned. Except for all that violence and barbarism , Islam is actually quite peaceful....

bad example, there is NO historical nor Biblical basis for islam....it was the figment of someones imagination...it is a political system based on FORCED compliance....become islamic or die...pretty easy to convince some people that you are right.....
