... Scientists and science advocates say climatologists inside and outside the government are facing unprecedented intimidation from the Trump administration, conservative groups, and internet trolls. Jon Foley, a climate scientist said hes more worried about the future of his profession than any time in his 20-year career. The ebbing and flowing of political currents effects scienceit always hasbut this is different, he said. This is much worse than anything weve ever seen before.
Climate scientists working directly for the Trump administration are the most affected. A report by the Union of Concerned Scientists describes a culture of fear as government scientists are gagged, sidelined, or fired, and funding cuts loom. Some are afraid to utter the words climate change, the report reads. The fear has pushed some agency scientists to seek advice from outside sources. Lauren Kurtz, executive director at the Climate Science Legal Defense Fund, says several federal climate scientists have asked her about their legal options for speaking out. One researcher just called to say hey, my boss has made it really hard for me to do my job. What can I do? she said.
Kurtz said shes hearing from more private climatologists worried about the future of their grant funding, or the backlash they might receive from empowered internet trolls if they choose to publicly criticize against cuts that would effect their work. Its definitely become a more stressful profession, Kurtz said. Long-term, theres room for optimism. But right nowespecially when you factor in things like potential funding cuts and dealing with harassment, yes, it has become more difficult to be a climate scientist.
Political appointees at the EPA are reviewing scientists work, and political appointees at Interior Department are reviewing science-based grants and contracts. All action at the agency on climate has effectively stopped".

Yep - I bet that really sucks. /s
You should only worry if your “product” is garbage. If you can prove your work and research you’ll be fine, it’s when you step into the arena of making the conclusion fit your agenda that you’re on thin ice.
i.e. they can dish it out but they can’t take it.
Hitler had this problem in 1945.
Its so difficult when you have to deal with other opinions in a free and open marketplace of ideas.
It so much easier when you are in a socialist state!
(Sarcasm)
They really hate it when the pendulum swings the other way.
MAGA!

Bold is the reason for the "fear" and the whining.
Its never been easier. Declare yourself an undocumented climate scientist and make up data to suit your agenda.
Nothing to worry about...all settled science and consensus, after all.

Thanks, T.
Interestingly, she includes "internet trolls" on her list of "intimidators" and somehow forgets to mention "Actual True Blue Scientists". Could it be that, in her mind, theTrue Blues and the trolls are one and the same?
Grant = FREE MONEY.
THE PARTY’S OVER..........................
“and internet trolls”
About time we got recognized for all the hard work we do!
And Bill Nye the Science Guy cries........
They’re terrified they’ll lose their gravy train.
When you push a con for a generation and then get caught, yeah, it’s a bad day.
That is the whole problem with these climate scientist. None of them can prove their work.
The worlds climate is simply too large and complex to make educated predictions of how the system works.
The computer models are simply too simplistic to make predictions.
Besides that computer models are not intended to make predictions they are intended to test theories. The proper use of a computer model is to test a theory against reality and not to make predictions.
A climate computer model should be used to test the climate theory against known data from the past not predict future changes.
Yep, it ain’t easy being a climate $cientist these days ...
