Alligator ‘ate toes off’ of Florida man who bathed in pond, report says

I’m not particularly afraid of wildlife in the water or the woods or anywhere else but common sense is a good thing.

When I was 10-12 in the early ‘50s, we kids would use rocks and tree limbs to dam creeks and create swimming holes. Ours was a bike ride of only a couple of miles from my home in Dallas and about 8’ deep, so many of us would meet there on Summer mornings and swim.

Kids did this in many areas around town. About that time, news came out of a death at a swimming hole a few miles away. Seems a young girl jumped in and landed in a mating ball of water moccasins. She was bitten numerous times and quickly died.

That ended my swimming hole days!

I heard the other day on FOX that if a gator grabs a hold of you all you have to do is stick your fingers up its nose and it will let you go...........well, that’s what I heard.

On some discovery type show I watched the host was a guide in Africa. Supposedly a true story, he said he was by a pond that he knew was full of crocadiles and some people from the UN came through. He told them not to swim in the pond because of the danger of crocodiles. They said “Don't worry, were from the UN." and jump in for a swim. They were eaten.
