Reaction from Republican Sen. Richard Shelby and congressional Democrats rolled in Wednesday following President Trump's tweets announcing a ban on transgender people serving in the military.

Shelby, an Alabama Republican, said the president's announcement reverses the current "big tent" policy for the country's all-volunteer military and that he wanted to look more closely at Trump's morning tweets.

Who cares what these lawmakers think? Trump knows what the AMERICAN PEOPLE want for their country. We don’t want weird-os making our military weak. When will the elite figure out that Trump is working with the people — the people who vote? How many elections, SRO rallies, etc., will it take before they realize they’re in the minority?

Being discriminatory always has been a good thing.

140k? I didn’t have a figure for the costs, but I’m not surprised. Thanks for the info.

It’s amazing how Obama & co., loved to throw other peoples’ money around. On average, how much does every illegal, or every Somali “refugee” cost the taxpayer? As much as a transgendered soldier? Or more? I don’t remember voting for such expenses.

I just did research on the costs and about four sources and they all came close to that figure. That really adds up fast for even a small percentage people in the military requesting it. I bet a lot of them join or want to join solely for the free surgery.

I have been told he was a Democrat already.

He can’t seem to make up his mind what he really is politically? Maybe he is having identity problems in other areas?

Discrimination is just part of good judgment and survival isn’t it?

I discriminate on all manner of things every single day.

Stay out of the bad part of town.
Don’t go down dark alleys.
Stay away from people who look rough
Stay away from drunks and druggies
etc.

Oh my I’m discriminatory even discriminating! I don’t care.

Some things must be “discriminatory” by definition idiots!

If not, then I am in Congress too!

“Discrimination” and “prejudice” are not synonyms.

It’s a lot of money. And, as I said, these people must be more focused on their free “change” than on their jobs.

One thing I don’t understand. I’ve heard that there was a Rand Corp. study in 2016 which stated that the total cost of all of this was surprisingly low—maybe 8 million a year. Of course, the study might have used older data, based on the early days of the Obama actions. I just checked online, and Obama made his transgender pronouncements, modifying “don’t ask, don’t tell” in 2011. It would have taken some time for people to take advantage of the new rules (and take advantage is a synonym as far as I’m concerned for abuse). It also takes time to collect data, analyze it, and release a study. So, the Rand report might not be the last word—the transgender military freak show might be an accelerating and increasing expense.

Well, I’m not sure what point you are making but to be prejudiced is to have preconceived notions without basis.

You go your way and I’ll go mine. We’ll see where those roads take us.

Another thing:

I just clicked and stumbled on an article saying that more recent estimates of the cost to the military were “between 24 and 84 million” annually. So, as the wannabe transgenders find out that the military guarantees this treatment to them, the cost estimates are climbing.

Funny how the word “discriminatory” has changed so perversely and deceitfully over the years - it once meant able to make distinctions among several choices based on genuine but maybe subtle differences, and implied intelligence and perceptiveness - now it’s come to mean unfairly and hurtfully singling someone or thing out for special treatment based on no good reason at all, and is used to label others as nasty and mean - it is discriminatory to exclude transgenders from the military, not in the deceitful use of the term, but in the genuine meaning - they hurt the morale and fighting efficiency of the troops with whom they’re mixed......

I’ll bet Senator Graham from South Carolina also has a problem with this. Maybe he and Shelby can form a support group or something.

Isn't that homosexual Lindsay Graham a pre-op Tranny? He's probably worried he'll be kicked out of the National Guard.

My point is that to to discriminate is different than to be prejudiced, to discriminate is to choose based on fact, to be prejudiced is to choose free of facts.

Lawmakers react to Trump’s transgender military ban: ‘Discriminatory, and un-American’
___________________________________________

I wonder what Mike Pence’s thoughts are on this courageous decision?

The gays got him to fold like a cheap suit in Indiana.

I believe Pence to be a good man... but weak. I hope President Trump’s bold, firm stance will show Pence how to hold his ground.

Transitioning transgendered are high maintenance and expensive. Maybe they could promise to remain the gender they enlisted as for the duration of their enlistment.

Mike, I respect your opinion over these many years but take a second and think about that statement.

“Maybe they could promise to remain the gender they enlisted as”

I don’t care what anybody thinks, mental illness can not be coddled by the military.
