Logan Ireland, an Air Force staff sergeant who began his transition to a man after two years of service, tells PEOPLE exclusively that hed love to meet with President Trump and discuss the implications of the new sweeping ban on transgender military personnel.
For the President to deny an able-bodied, fully qualified person the inherent right to raise their right hand and serve their country, potentially giving their own life for our freedoms, is doing this country an injustice, Ireland says.
He continues, extending his invitation to Trump for a conversation, I would love for my President to meet me so I can tell him about the 15,500 honorably serving transgender military members that are fighting right now for their liberties and for their country.
Staff Sergeant Ireland, 29, joined the Air Force in 2010 as a woman, according to the Air Force Times. In 2012, he began his transition a process Ireland had postponed to ensure he could enlist, as at the time serving as openly transgender was banned.
Ireland was previously profiled alongside his now-wife, Laila Villanueva, in a 2015 New York Times Op-ed documentary. Villanueva, 31, is also a transgender soldier.
In the documentary, both Villanueva and Ireland expressed that they had been met with acceptance and support by fellow service members, despite the then-policy.

If there is a war do we have to wait till their surgury/mental condition is over and properly evaluated?-)
I hope that pretty girl is not a transgender, I’d be EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED :)
"They're Coming To Take Me Away" Obama's Girly Men (Nutball, Screwball, Wackball, & Noball) |
The lawsuits are being filed as we speak — in courts with sympathetic Clinton/Obama judges, of course.
(Echoing a point I saw earlier today,) How STUPID would we have to be to allow (let alone demand) our military to accept a recruit known to be mentally ill?
- The obese
- Those without high school diploma's
- Anyone with tattoo's or excessive tattoos
- The blind - Those in wheelchairs
- Men over 35 (can't enlist)
And this list goes on. Stop asking for special rights! Sheesh.
These “transgender” defectives need to seek intensive mental health treatment immediately. They belong far away from authority, power or influence. They are mentally unstable...and worse.
We have more than enough psychological problems and disruptions dealing with open homosexuals.
Go ahead and name those 15,000... so we can hand them their papers that much sooner.
Guess this SARGE wairs SKIRTS
The profound psychopathology of these diseased people can slam every normal person on the planet if it makes them feel better. Take this freak off the steroids.
Transgender Air force Sergeant is a stark raving lunatic that should be in an asylum playing cards with Napolean.
An untransitioned transgender is not able bodied.
I didn’t read the article, but checked out the photos. Why is she in military garb, if she “transitioned” after military service?
So, they were expecting the military to provide hormone shots while deployed to Afghanistan?
Has that woman had an addadicktome, or is she a lesbian?
Didn’t you read that the military was informing women soldiers to expect to see fully intact males in the shower?
That’s included in the $1 billion cost to the service.
There are many rules and regs personnel must follow if they are part of the military...If someone cannot abide, they should not re-up, be discharged, not enlist etc...
Military is not about how they feel and PC social experiments!
How in the world would anyone know the numbers!! 15,000? Really doubt it!
