Trump Floats Possibility Of Giuliani Replacing Sessions As AG

President Trump has floated the possibility of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with his steadfast ally Rudy Giuliani to serve in the top Justice Department post, Axios reported Monday.

Trump broached the idea in internal discussions about bringing in and surrounding himself with staunch supporters, sources within the West Wing told the news outlet.

Before The New York Times interview last week, Trump had already expressed anger and frustration at Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, Axios reports.

Trump, during the interview, opined that Sessions' decision to recuse himself was "unfair" to him and he would've likely picked another person to lead the Justice Department if he had known this is the move Sessions would make.

In a tweet on Monday, Trump went after Sessions, calling him “beleaguered” and questioned why the attorney general and federal investigators are not looking into Hillary Clinton for her “crimes” and ties to Russia.

Guiliani may agree to work as the AG for a short time. His Trump mandate is go drain the DC sewer and that’s a target rich environment. So target rich it wouldn’t take much effort to get it started fast and sustained.

Moreover, Guiliani would likely keep the immigration efforts that Sessions has now in place.

You attack Rudi thusly: “He had a chance in 2000 to challenge her for the Senate — he dropped out of that race and basically gave it to her.”

Did you forget about this?

Rudy was in the midst of the battle of his life - FOR his life.

Geese....

Here is the link to a comment last night. The links concerning recusal are near the middle.

Comment last night

If you want to see the Bloomberg article I mention, just Google: He'll recuse himself from Russia probe if needed

I guess those articles were assuming a Russia investigation was underway, or would be at some point.

The DOJ is in charge of criminal immigration matters and immigration courts.

“No. Giuliani is an amnesty supporter”.

He’s also a bad assed prosecutor. He knows how to get criminals.

And he will not allow his personal views to affect his duty to investigate and prosecute, the way a RAT or RINO would.

There is only one way to drain the swamp, and that is from the top down. Sessions and the other department heads, needed to immediately replace their first two layers of direct reports, and replace them with people instructed to do extreme vetting and (if needed) replacement of the next three layers of the bureaucracy. Sessions is so far removed from the front line troops they can ignore his directives unless the mid-level bosses are willing to enforce those directives. Changing just the Secretary level in each department will do nothing.

I’m in. The ‘RATS won’t be able to intimidate and push Giuliani around the way they have The Recuser. IMHO.

I so wanted Rudy Giuliani to be the AG from the very beginning, but was expecting Jeff Sessions to be a force to be reckoned with as well, he isn’t even close.

Last I heard, the DOJ is turning its attention to marijuana issues. Are you kidding me?!

Jeff Sessions hasn’t even fired the corrupt Obama holdover, Andrew McCabe, much less the other Obama holdover, Rod Rosenstein.

He doesn’t seem to grasp the seriousness of the Deep State’s threat to our national security and the President of the United States.

It’s President Trump’s nature to be loyal to those who are loyal to him that propelled Jeff Sessions to the AG position, and his own expectation of his ability.

Since Jeff Sessions is obviously failing to stop the leaks AND prosecuting the leakers, without question, President Trump should fire him, because this is a national security issue.

Personally, I’m more than ready for him to.

Trump can get rid of Sessions any minute he wants. He hasn’t. Why?

The answer should be obvious. Sessions is doing exactly what Trump wants him to do. And, Trump is able to lay a smoke screen that Sessions ISN’T doing what he wants to absorb all the energy of the media-—both fake media and ours!

If I’m right on this, Trump/Sessions will have engaged in the most astounding secret program since the a-bomb.

He is also a gun control supporter - so, agreed, NOOOOOO!

How about Ted Cruz? He’s not really beholden to the Deep State, and he’s not 20 years past his prime. He doesn’t give a rip if people like him or not, he’ll just go after whomever has broken the law...and he’d LOVE to go after Hillary and Co., plus Barack & Co.

Sessions would be better as the head of Immigration and Customs Service.

Hi BMc —

In addition to your comment, I seem to remember that RG had many security contracts that would have to be exposed and unraveled; some with foreign countries.

With no offense to him, he is a walking conflict of interest because of his ties (both past and future).

And YOU seem to not understand that when Pres. Trump said HE - HE - would not go after Hitlery - he did NOT mean that his DOJ shouldn’t. THAT is the DOJ’s job, not the Presidents.

And can you just imagine how much worse all the riots and media whoring would’ve been had Pres. Trump been seen as PERSONALLY going after the Hilderbeast right out of the gate?

WE need to remember that Pres. Trump says things plainly that means exactly what he’s saying. He said the HE would not go after her. The unsaid part of that statement is “let the proper dept. do it.”

Get it?

I like Rudy Giuliani - he’s one of the good guys & would do an excellent job.

I like Jeff Sessions but if he isn’t up to the job I’d rather see Trump nominate JAY SEKULOW for US Attorney General.

We need a PITBULL like Sekulow to go after Clinton, Lynch, Holder, Comey, Obama, and Mueller.
