First they say they'll appear, then a couple of days before the hearing, they back out. All of this takes time, and the investigations are stalled. They're getting away with exactly what they want to get away with.

You will notice that Donald Trump Jr has no problem testifying before the Senate panel.
In anything which could ensnare a Clintonista, self preservation requires exercising your 5th amendment rights at a minimum. It is preferable to flee the country if you want to live.
