Unimpressed Trump Sends Pentagon Back To The Drawing Board On Afghanistan
Breitbart ^ | 07/20/17 | Edwin Mora

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. President Donald Trump, unimpressed by the Afghanistan war options presented to him during a White House meeting with his full national security team Wednesday, suggested they may have to go back to the drawing board to craft a strategy that does not mirror the failed ones employed by his predecessors, said an administration official.

The meeting came as the Pentagon briefed lawmakers about plans to increase the U.S. military footprint in the country.

Contrary to mainstream media claims that the president has taken a completely hands-off approach to the 16-year-old conflict in Afghanistan, Trump presided over Wednesday’s meeting primarily aimed at discussing the U.S. war effort in Afghanistan, a Trump administration official familiar with the deliberations told Breitbart News on condition of anonymity.

President Trump indicated that he is not satisfied with the strategy as it currently stands.

The Pentagon and White House National Security Council (NSC) declined to provide specifics about the developing plan.

President Trump demanded that his team go back to square one if necessary and create a realistic plan that ensures Afghanistan is ultimately able to stand on its own as a country, said the administration official, noting that the meeting served as a sort of wake up call for those involved in developing the strategy.

It appears that besides the Pentagon, the NSC has at least some authority in setting the strategy.

Asked about the meeting, the Pentagon did not confirm nor deny that the President asked officials to go back to the drawing board.

The perpetual state of never ending war by pass administrations is not a winning strategy. How did we defeat Germany and Japan in less than 4 years over 60 years ago?

I remember hearing McCain even say we should stay in Afghanistan and Iraq for the next 100 years. Now you know why the Deep State hates President Trump so much. This is their cash cow.

Good move and go President Trump!

We should never have gone into Afghanistan.
Bouncing the rubble for 30 days of daily B-52 raids was all the commitment we should have made.
No one has ever tamed Afghanistan and no one ever will.

Yeah but it’s not even remotely the same. Our bases in Europe are peaceful compare to Afghanistan.

Our troops are not patrolling the entire country looking for Nazis or Japs. Moreover planes and missiles are not striking targets inside of Germany and Japan.

It’s not even remotely the same. Nice try though.

[ No one has ever tamed Afghanistan and no one ever will. ]

The only way to “tame” it would be march from one side to another shooting everyone in sight.

It is like a damned wild feral animal.

Either kill everyone there, or leave it the hell alone.

No military can stop a resistance in a nation where there is enough people that refuse to submit or comply to an occupying force.

Afghanistan is one place and we did it here when the 13 colonies resisted King George.

1. Liquidate the entire Haqqani tribe, and don't give any "human rights" lip service. It is a criminal-terrorist syndicate. Liquidate them all.

2. Afterwards, turn to the Taliban with the same ferocity, who will be much less inclined to press the issue after the destruction of Haqqani, and the other tribes will be less inclined to support it.

3. Ban all religious schools and madrassas except those approved by the government.

4. Tie Pakistan's economic and military sustainability to their crackdown on AQ and ISIS-related persons, organizations, and propaganda.

That takes care of the whole of the problem.

The only way Afghanistan could stand on its own as a country would be as an islamic country. You know, like it was before we sacrificed all those lives on this futile mission. Reality sucks but that is just the way it is.

How true..., in recent history the British, the Russians have found that out! Short of "Green Glass" transformation of the environs..., get the hell out!

“Going back to square one” should take our military “leaders” to the point where they announce that we are done there. Then pack up and leave that Seventh Century $hit hole to the muslim cretins that call it home. Russia got it’s a$$ handed to itself there, and we have had nearly the same experience. Not one more American life should be lost there nor one effing more penny spent.

Nuke it from orbit with neutron bombs for a year or two.

Let it cool off.

Repopulate it with actual human beings.

Put all of our violent criminals there and arm them. They will be in their element. They might even enjoy it.

1. Leave it to the Afghans.
2. Patrol it with drones.
3. Drop hellfire missiles on anybody who mentions leaving Afghanistan for any reason at all.
