Berkeley College Republicans planned speaking engagement at UC Berkeley featuring conservative author Ben Shapiro is back on, after a number of scheduling issues that have played out in the public.
University officials wrote in an email to the Berkeley College Republicans that after "extensive efforts," they had been unable to lock down a campus venue where Shapiro could appear for the Sept. 14 talk a move the student group had interpreted as "anti-free speech" and "unconstitutional" in a press release.
But, on Thursday, campus spokesperson Dan Mogulof told KQED that other venues were, in fact, available on the requested date, and that UC Berkeley would underwrite the additional fee for those venues.
"We decided not to wait for (Berkeley College Republicans') response (to the email), so we went ahead and checked on those venues regardless, Mogulof said in the interview. And weve determined that there are other venues available."
Which is it? Is he a conservative, or is he “right-wing”?
I hate that they call these people, “liberals,” they are certainly in no way that.
Depends on your perspective. If you're from Berkeley, he's a white supremacist neo-Nazi who makes tea from the crushed bones of third-world children, upholsters his car with baby harp seal skins, wants to end education for women and bring back slavery. If you're a normal person, he's a little right of center.
Hey, I want upholster my beater with baby harp seal skins! That’s even better than neon lights under the running boards.
Hard to believe Ben Shapiro is dumb enough to even accept the invitation to speak.
Is it me, or has Ben’s stuff been getting more moderate lately?
I would not label him “right wing” but I sure would credit him with being articulate and quick on his feet.
Heard him on a youtube broadcast and he is very impressive, in general.
He is a #nevertrumper
“He is a #nevertrumper”
Yep, he’s dead to me...
I would hardly call Ben right wing
Bush globalist maybe
Yup, I was watching Steven Crowder's election night coverage on Youtube and he had Ben Shapiro on, to examine the exit polls early on.
Early in the evening, Shapiro was looking at the exit polling and claiming Florida was lost, Ohio was lost, etc. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME THING THE ENEMEDIA WAS DOING ON THEIR BROADCASTS EARLY ON.
After the real results came in and we had President-elect Donald Trump, I knew there was a coordinated effort to try to discourage Trump supporters. While the left always claims voter disenfranchisement, it's the left that actually practices it against their opposition.
At least we had the last laugh. I was also disappointed in Steven Crowder for allowing Shapiro to do this on his election night coverage. I actually watched Crowders coverage so I could avoid crap like that.
CGato
Of course theyre offering to waive the fee. They’ll cancel the event.
Tough crowd.
Many videos of him speaking at Youtube.
Look on right side for more.

Shapiro is an “acceptable conservative” because he’s so vehemently anti-trump.
