Two Bay Area counties sue oil companies over sea-rise
San Jose Mercury ^ | July 17, 2017 | Richard Halstead

Two Bay Area counties sued 37 oil, gas and coal companies Monday asserting the companies knew their fossil fuel products would cause sea level rise and coastal flooding but failed to reduce their greenhouse gas pollution.

The lawsuit was part of a coordinated litigation attack by Marin, San Mateo County and the city of Imperial Beach.

I think we should immediately shut off all non solar or wind generated electricity, all natural gas, and all gas and diesel fuel from being delivered to these counties and city.

Every last defendant should immediately halt ALL Sales and Production, Storage,..in these 2 counties because of the clear conflict of interest it poses, not to mention minimizing their exposure in this wacky lawsuit

They should do them a big favor and not sell their product in those counties. In my county, Sonoma, it cost nearly a million in permits and fees just to build a gas station.

Shouldn’t they be suing 0bama or the DNC? THEY were the ones that PROMISED decreasing sea levels, were they not?

Now if they can only get the sea level to rise. I’ve been to the beach lately. It’s the same as when I was a kid.

If this suit were filed anywhere but Kalifornia, it would be impossible to prove causation of the alleged sea rise.

Simple;
Sue for damages.
1) Show me your damages.
2) Prove they were caused by rising sea levels.
3) Prove that sea level rise was cause by global warming.
4) Prove global warming was caused by the oil companies.
5) Collect your check.
Fail any of those steps, shut up and go home.

Here in Crescent City the ocean seems to be right where it was in the earliest available photographs. If anything, it has receded a bit. Well, Marin County has always been more special than us poor deplorables up here.

Did the county government use any oil products?

Oh please take this to court! I would love to see the proof of elevated sea levels using scientific method. If not, counter sue for frivolous suit damages.

Weaponized government. I believe the founding fathers feared this and offered solutions.

Sue the people who banned whaling. Those whales displace a lot of water (not to mention how much they must pee), and since people can’t hunt them there are more and more whales out there making the seas rise.

I live in Marin County. It’s full of liberal morons. I don’t know of anywhere in Marin County that’s been affected by rising sea levels. Around the Bay, I’d bet that any rise in water levels are due more to erosion of the shore washing into the Bay. Our family home was right on the Bay - our son bought the house from us - I don’t see any difference in the shoreline there - looks just like it did in the 1970s.

An actual court of law is the last place these people want to take this. Luckily for them, they don’t have those in California.

Sea levels have been going UP and DOWN since the dawn of time. And quite DRASTICALLY over time.

Un freakin believable!

Although, predictable from the libs.

You are fortunate to live in such a beautiful place. Goat Rock beach was my favorite place to go when I lived in the bay area.

I have been to Marin, Oakland, Carmel, Santa Cruz, SFO and there is zero rise in sea level.

Litigious litigants....
