In Army terms, this would be more like a pickup truck, than a main battle tank. In an environment where a missile hit can kill a tank, being able to field dozens of missile equipped pickup trucks for the price of one tank may turn out to be the better strategy.

The only reason warships were required to be so large in the past was because of crew requirements. With automation and computers warships can be a lot smaller now. It would be better to have a fully automated ship that was very small and extremely well armored that is loaded with a variety of missiles, a railgun, Phalanx CIWS guns for antimissile protection, and several VTOL drones for air cover.

Seems like I’ve heard that somewhere before. Hmmmm? Where was that?
