This is the ultimate Post Modern Paradox. If no one should have to be responsible or suffer consequences why do these addicts keep killing themselves?

Not really. The demographics of who is dying from ODs is shocking. Middle aged housewives, white collar professionals, college educated, even many who are upper middle class or wealthy. An estimated 12 million Americans are improperly using opiates.

“Volunteering” when you have a raging addiction is an oxymoron. And they got those addictions on the advice and encouragement of their physicians, with legally prescribed medications, often given out like candy.

There are very few specialist pain-control Nurses, who are the real experts in how much is enough, and they can name their price for employment. Otherwise, I would take the advice from pharmacists before physicians before taking any opiates.

It’s a whole new, albeit deadly, ball game.

“Now they are raping the whirlwind.”

A typo of course. But I am still going to use this as a witticism.

The thing is, Bob, that cannabis has a lot of medical potential and is used by many folks for its palliative effects. Grown up folks use it every day to blunt their debilitating pain so they can live life a little before they are finally taken home by God.

I wholly approve of that type of use. I would never seek to cause a person more pain and suffering.

There is a type of pot nowadays that has no THC at all. It has been bred out of it completely.

Do you hate that type of pot too? Is that type of pot a gateway drug also?

In cali they passed a bill that said if you stole less than a $1000 from a business it was only a written ticket offense. Now the thieves take a calculator with them to rob stores.

It is all part of the plan to destroy this country to 4th world status. Let the thieves and murderers in the streets to kill us and steal from us. Reparations because whitey/Americans have been so mean for over 200 years.

Well, the non-felons will surely rise up and demand that the State set up dispensaries so we can get our heroin without dealing with undesirables. /s

This is crap. Should be shot down by referendum, if Beaver Kate signs it.

I know of a local lady that is over 100. Her family began treating her knees with a topical cannabis oil, and she was just as happy as could be with the lack of pain. I asked if they told her what it was and they said "Hell, no. It's 'herbal,' and that's all she needs to know."

Legalizing weed in Cali however has not put a dent in illegal, cartel grow ops in the forests.

Legal sale doesn't begin until next year.

It’s legal in all but name under the medicinal farce.

"Legal in all but name" doesn't bring law-abiding businessmen into the market and thus doesn't put a dent in illegal, cartel grow ops.

In my county in OR there are at least 1000 mj grows, and 100 are permitted. The rest are illegal.

Illegal grows in legalizing states can and almost certainly do supply non-legalizing states. And if that permitted number of 100 is too low for market demand, the illegal grows may supply in-state as well. Nobody ever said overregulated legal MJ would displace illegal MJ.

You don’t have the vaguest clue what these drugs do to people, do you?

This shit literally reduces your lifespan to months from the first hit.

If it doesn’t kill you within the first 6 months, it will turn you into a drooling idiot with the IQ and cognitive ability of a rutabaga.

My Wife has family in WA and OR that WERE into that shit. Luckily, most of them are dead by their own hand, and didn’t kill innocent people with their self destructive lifestyles.

I grew up in the upper midwest. These people out here on the west coast are just totally insane compared to what I’m used to.

Okay, let’s follow your logic.

Make the production, distribution, sale, and use of ALL currently banned drugs legal. This includes alcohol and tobacco products too. No half measures, no age restrictions.

You either get ALL or NONE. And, no addiction treatments, detoxification programs, private or public are required, or funded. You get hooked? You get clean on your own dime.

You dig your grave, you lay in it.

Oh, and when your kids and loved ones get hooked (which they will, voluntarily or otherwise) you have NO legal recourse whatsoever, because you gave permission to the government to allow gangbangers, drug cartels, traffickers, and other assorted lowlifes carte blanc to ply their wares.

At that point, the term “drug war” will take on a whole new meaning.

So yeah, go ahead and legalize illicit drugs. I’ve been interested in a career change anyway. Other people’s stupidity and hedonism pays well if you’re selling the sin.
