We have a missile defense radar site in Honshu. All relevant trajectory data is detailed and well known. We don’t need the Russian assessment.

The Russians say they tracked the missile and it was only intermediare range missile.

Too bad we don't have the capability to track atmospheric objects.

Excellent point. Russia and China are trying to get Trump to back away totally, like Obama. US involvement is to be avoided. In fact, Who is to say that China and Russia are not helping North Korea, like they did in the Korean War and the Vietnam War? If they can tie up our miltary or economic assets there, they can’t be used elsewhere. They are pushing the US to end the exercises (in other words, lead from behind like the previous occupant did.)

lots of huffing and puffing but

one missile to one country - and N. Korea would cease to exist.

He's no longer dealing with Billy and Madeline, or O'bungles and Cankles or Horse Face.

Cocktail hour is over...

Yes & No. An IRBM fired from NK would be capable of hitting Alaska, Okinawa and the Pacific Northwest.

An ICBM bring other major US cities into the targeting mix.

If it was shot from the back of a truck it probably was an IRBM, not an ICBM. It all comes down to the volume and weight of the fuel required to go the distance. Pictures I saw looked like a big SCUD — which is a short-range missile.

So the Russians claim the missile went up 2802 kilometers. Tat would be 9,193,362 FEET or 1,741 MILES). Yeah right.

My bad. Tat was the Norks’ claim. The Russkies only claimed a preposterous 510 kilometers.

NKorea is trying to show strength and power, but everyone can see that they are just pretenders.

Really?

If some weird looking fat guy who's already threatened you is standing across the street pointing a rifle at you, are you going to assume he's just pretending?

I think Russia and China are teaming up to make the NORKs our problem alone so they can try to leverage our inevitable actions to turn the rest of the world against us. I don’t think they yet understand the full scope of President Trump.

The fact is that NK borders on both Russia and China. If NK were to become a “radioactive waste” that would mean that a whole lot of fallout would likely be landing on Russia and China as well (not to mention a ton of refugees).

The outcome of that wouldn’t be good for the US or the rest of the world.
************************************************************

And what a perfectly WONDERFUL reason for China and Russia to get together and dispatch the little tin pot a*hole with extreme prejudice.

I do. When talk of nukes comes up, I always remember Tridents.

My guess is NK would fight damn hard in a ground war for a week. Then they’d collapse as an organized force. Guerrilla warfare might continue for awhile, but I’d imagine they want to eat more than fight and surrender to their prosperous southern siblings before very long.

The determing factor might be China. If they rolled in to prop up the state in a war, they might get rid of the current regime and replace it with something more like their own current state. Or they might negotiate a reunification with the south in exchange for Taiwan rejoining the mainland.
