Scientists Criticize Stephen Hawking’s ‘Bizarre’ Claim Trump Will Push Earth ‘Over The Brink’

Climate scientists and policy experts are criticizing famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking for arguing President Donald Trump’s policies would push the Earth “over the brink” towards runaway global warming.

If an historical geologist made a similar comment about Hawking's area of theoretical phycics s/he'd be hooted down as a know-nothing. Historical geologists probably know more than any others about global warming/climate change over geologic time, yet a black hole specialist thinks he knows more about their specialty than they do.

This entire scam is being mostly pushed by a bunch of junk "scientists" and grant-dependent academics who know nothing about the topic of climate. They base their thinking on the propaganda that emerges from the U.N.'s IPCC and their puppets like Algore and Soros. Knowledgeable specialists are either ignored or afraid to speak out.

Hawking's so far out of his own specialty on this one he's become a joke.

This is the “Genius” that said if time ran in reverse you could win Lotto all the time. Think about it....

“We are close to the tipping point where global warming becomes irreversible. Trump’s action could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of two hundred and fifty degrees, and raining sulphuric acid,” Hawking said in the interview.

1. What action? Trump has not done anything yet except state that we are not signing on to some treaty that was never approved by our Government. It's not like there were some physical actions that were happening that Trump suddenly stopped. Nothing has really changed. It was just all talk about future commitments and actions.

2. We are a LONG ways from 250 degrees. Even if you accept the AGW bogus numbers our climate would not warm up even a single degree during Trump's eight years. It is sad to see a former genius like Hawking say something so utterly ridiculous. He is in sad decline.

3. Hawking is smart but Leonard Susskind, the son of a plumber, is smarter. Hawking and Susskind had a decades old debate about what happens to information in a black hole and Hawking lost that debate. Hawking gets a LOT of press because of his disability but there are people you have never heard of that are smarter than Hawking on physics (we know he is not very smart on politics, AGW and probably everything else).

Hawking seems to occasionally forget that he works with abstract numbers, not the real world. In this case, considering he’s in Britain —the numbers he’s extrapolating from global wah-wah warmers are a case of “garbage in, garbage out.”

I love this guy’s work but he’s getting more deranged every year, just like Buzz Aldrin.

If time ran in reverse there would be no games of chance or sporting events and the world would be totally predictable.

Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies:

How the World Passed a Carbon Threshold and Why It Matters
By Nicola Jones, January 26, 2017

In the big picture, 400 ppm is a low-to-middling concentration of CO2 for the planet Earth.

Some 500 million years ago, when the number of living things in the oceans exploded and creatures first stepped on land, the ancient atmosphere happened to be rich with about 7,000 ppm of carbon dioxide. Earth was very different back then: the Sun was cooler, our planet was in a different phase of its orbital cycles, and the continents were lumped together differently, changing ocean currents and the amount of ice on land. The planet was maybe as much as 10 degrees C (18°F) warmer than today, which might seem surprisingly cool for that level of greenhouse gas; with so many factors at play, the link between CO2 and temperature isn’t always easy to see. But researchers have confirmed that CO2 was indeed a major driver of the planet’s thermostat over the past 500 million years: large continental ice sheets formed and sea levels dropped when the atmosphere was low in CO2, for example.

----------------

So, 7,000 ppm CO2 caused a MAYBE 10 C degree warmer planet. Why didn't it turn into Venus then?

People in the Audience were actually crying after he told his tale of gloom and doom.

I would be crying because I was laughing too hard.

"Even this so-called “genius” sounds like a total retard when talking up leftists politics."

I caught that a long time ago.

Hawkings jumped the shark a long time ago.

FGS, he's worried about aliens taking over, and how we *must* colonize other planets for the human race to survive.

Because mother earth is doomed, or something.

When he talks politics, he erases any semblance of "genius".

He just comes off as some kind of kook.

Kook is being nice. The guy is a whacked-out monstrous freak show on wheels with a creepy squawk box who rose to celebrity status because of his physical disabilities, but no one wants to call him on his shit precisely because he’s an idiot leftard in good standing. He turned in his respected scientist card years ago.

I think we should start putting Hawkings in nice quiet corner with NOVA running on a loop on tv. Or Carl Sagan and his billions and billions of stars.

I thought we crossed that years ago. Hawking needs to keep to AI voices on the Big Bang Theory.

Hanson said the Arctic would be ice-free in the summer no later than next year.

Well, we shall see. Idiots

Exactly.

He's a theoretical physicists.

I've read some of his stuff and find it fascinating.

Some of his other stuff is just nuts and accurately demonstrates why his field is called "theoretical".

He does a better job with the physics stuff than he does with the political stuff.

They guy’s been in the university environment his entire life, so he pretty much has to play the game and keep his liberal benefactors happy.

Not Stephen Hawking but “Stephen Hawking”, the man who has mysteriously managed to survive ALS an impossibly long time.
