This, in fact, was the older fear.
This changed to fear of warming when cause and effect were conflated with respect to CO2.
It might even turn out that there is a canceling effect, that all this extra anthropogenic CO2 has come at just the right time (God is no fool about scheduling things) to buffer away the worst.
The Earth has actually been cooling for 3,000 years. We are at the end of the warm inter glacial period. We have had some minor upticks during that time, but we are on a 3,000 year downward cooling trend. Modern civilization is just a few hundred years old. We wiil be squashed like bugs. Frozen hippie statues everywhere.
