Tom Price: GOP lawmakers opposing healthcare bill don't understand Trump's plan

Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price Sunday tried to persuade reluctant Republican senators and governors that the healthcare bill in the upper chamber is going to make life easier for millions of Americans.

Price told CNN he believes many Republicans who have come out against the bill misunderstand the Trump administration's plan for healthcare.

In responding to comments made by Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nevada, last week saying that the second biggest healthcare lie was the Senate bill would bring premiums down, Price said the bill is a part of a larger plan that would accomplish that goal.

"The plan, in its entirety, will absolutely bring prices down," he said.

Price said increased healthcare costs "just wouldn't happen, and we'll continue to work with the governors to make sure they understand the plan in its entirety."

The administration and its allies in Congress have repeatedly said that there is a three-part plan to fully replacing the Affordable Care Act. That plan is to repeal the bill, have Price's department strip away parts of it through eecutive actions and then make legislative changes.

While the Congressional Budget Office has not done an analysis of the Senate bill, but the House bill would cut Medicaid by $834 billion over the next decade and 23 million fewer people would have health insurance in the same time frame when compared to the current system.

However, Price said the Trump administration's plan would put more money in people's pockets by cutting the taxes in the Affordable Care Act. He said the current system isn't doing enough to help Americans.

approx 2.5 million in the U.S. die each year, that's about 25 million over 10 years. So, looks like they're right.

They need to understand this is just the first step.

The most important thing is to repeal Obamacare.

Then, since we have a Republican president and Congress, they can gradually pass other relevant legislation.

They are getting tangled up in details, instead of focusing on the important part.

Don't be a tool.

This plan is a near $60 billion dollar boondoggle to the insurance companies and provides more subsidies to people, which is more market distortion by the feral government.

This is Obamacare Junior on steroids.

What or Who is stopping Price from using HHS authority to strip Obamacare provisions as much as possible to lessen the damage. Technically, Obamacare gave authority to Sebelius, which is now under Price.

Either Obamacare is repealed, and market forces are returned to healthcare, or we will have single-payer.

I don’t believe I voted for Trump to be Emperor. Personally, Trump needs to read the Constitution a few more times and fire the lick-spittle (R) minions whispering in his ear.

I DO believe the House and Senate were given to the (R), BEFORE Trump, to *REPEAL* the fiasco known as O’Care. They had passed 6 bills on that promise; yet not ONE of those were valid post-Trump win. Odd, no?

2nd, wasn’t this the same CBO that speculated O’Care wouldn’t cost more than the magic $1T, bring down premiums/costs and have more people w/ ‘insurance’?? It doesn’t cover HOW many millions today, but the repeal is to make things worse??

Put it out for a vote and see which Pubbie senators want to go down in history as the GOP member who voted with the dems to stop the repeal of Obamacare.

And *that* makes them ‘wrong’ here??

Anything, aside from repeal, and I’m opposed to Trump as well. DJT isn’t the 2nd coming and he’s on the wrong side of the Constitution, if he’s hocking T’Care snake-oil.

Well, “reluctant Republican senators and governors” could be persuaded to support the upper chamber healthcare bill if it was modified to incorporate changes that will actually reduce costs of healthcare.

There are many things that could be incorporated to help achieve this. One example would be tort reform that allows for LOSER PAYS and that will help minimize the lawsuit settlement shakedowns that current plague the economy. Some say reconciliation rules in the Senate won’t allow this. Hell boys, throw in provision of a token “loser pays tax” of $1 that the loser would have to pay each time the loser pays axe falls on an entity— that will have an impact (yes, minuscule but so what) on the budget & thus meet reconciliation rules.

Repeal first. Separate bill. Then come up with a free market alternative. That is the mark of success for the GOP to not get destroyed in the next election. Trump has already One the next one if he wants it, but these quasi socialists in the GOP need to be retired.

50 billion dollars directly paid to bail out insurers isn’t that complicated. But thanks for nothing!

Hey, “whatever” for brains, Trump cannot sign a dang thing until the lying Republicans get something to him. They are the ones who have to get something done, first.

Your tirade against Trump is bizarre and without evidence. You probably believe Bush personally blew up the World Trade Center, don’t ya?
