Ugh.
Otto could have been wiser, especially when he was tempted to take a poster as a souvenir, and yet. “Deserved exactly what he got” is rather harsh by humanitarian standards. I think this is one of a group of events by which the Lord is outing our dear lefties as having not so much dearness in their hearts. Showing their “liberalism” to be illiberal.
One cannot expect justice, when they enter a country that has no justice.
Well said.
The Bill of Rights does not apply in NK.
The left has been lately raging at a lot of things.
I think from the second term of Barack Obama they began to see that their Shangri-La was not going to last forever, and like the devil, “were filled with rage knowing they had but a short time.”
Somewhat comforting to know there are others as outraged.
I’m thinking that if he did steal the sign as accused, I wonder if it was out of a sense of idealistic outrage, in part. That somehow any good government shouldn’t be putting up signs all over telling people how to live.
Has anyone got a copy of the sign in question and a translation of what it said?
Of course they don’t put up with rebels at ALL there, as he quickly learned (hey you! SPY!), and may have realized too late that the American political conservatives weren’t just woofing about how terrible NK has gotten.
But one can expect justice, and people who hold that, in the US.
Guess I’m wrong about some FReepers.
I’m heartened to know there’s at least three of us here.
The momentous question for us, is whether we should get involved in humanitarian justice conflicts.
I think it may shortly become moot. God may have cursed NK to the point where it will do something SO egregiously dangerous and stupid that both Russia and the USA and China will all be stomping on it.
Professors always have to be saying something novel and outrageous so they can stand out from all those ordinary people who aren’t as intelligent and perceptive as they are.....
Katherine Dettwyler, who teaches anthropology black studies and hatred of whites under the guise of anthropology
The momentous question for us is if we will stand up for our people. I stand up for my kids (now adults) because I don’t give a damn what anyone thinks of me. Same for my family. I stand up for Americans because I don’t give a damn what the media, leftists think.
I wouldn’t dream to assume what God thinks about anything.
By the way, hear tell said sign in staff part of hotel where the lights are usually off. The sign is large, seems rigid and heavy. Don’t think it would fit in a backpack.
Which certainly sounds like it is not souvenir hunter bait.
Someone want to get brownie points with the Norkie government (maybe needing a favor) by “turning in a spy” and lucky him/her, here’s some dirty dog capitalist tourist to pin it on?
I am cynical enough about our own Feds and (sometimes) Staties; multiply that by maybe 100 for the Norkies.
At any rate, I think we got a look at where Donald’s heart is, when we saw him bomb the alleged chemical weapons delivery fleet in Syria. Whether he got that right seems less important here than what he seems to be bent on trying to do.
If I were that Dear Leader I’d be looking out every minute for drones. When Donald decides “this just plain ain’t right” — watch out.
Happily we don’t have to assume it about God. The bible spells it out over and over.
So fine... wasn’t the tourist group able to take a picture of it?
I guess they did arm themselves strongly with Kim Jong Il patriotism. They murdered Otto. That’s Kim Jong Il patriotism.
And God doesn’t particularly honor false modesty towards Himself either. That’s an invention of man that is also a cop-out. God is close to the brokenhearted.
