You are free to move to a deserted island and live on the fruits of your labor.

Where one lives doesn't affect who or what has a moral claim to your labor and creativity.

You chose where you live. You elect your representatives. If you don’t like it, change it or move.

Don’t sit behind your keyboard and pout.

I’m quite politically active here in North Louisiana. Attend all the local govt meetings and write about it on my newsblog.

But none of your comments address why someone or something else has a claim to what I earn or create.

When you live in a community you pay for living in the community. If you don’t like paying then move out.

But to claim you shouldn’t have to pay for the protection and amenities of living in that community is insane.

INCOME TAXES. INCOME TAXES. As opposed to sales taxes, tariffs, user fees, etc. The discussion is what type of system we have to "pay" The Ruling Class to make the trains run on time, and keep the sewers free-flowing. My argument is that stealing peoples labor and creativity for government operation is immoral, and that other revenue should be collected instead.

I stopped paying income tax in 2001. Three years later, I got a letter and a form from the IRS asking me to sign a CONTRACT agreeing to a stipulated, imputed income determined by the IRS.

I called the IRS office mentioned in the letter and talked to the revenue agent. I asked him to send me a copy of the statute enacted by congress and signed by a President, not an IRS code, that required me under my circumstances to file or pay an income tax.

That’s the last time I’ve heard from the IRS. On top of that, IRS agents have quotas to meet and if there isn’t a huge amount of money involved, and there wasn’t in my case, they just move on to the next name on their list. I actually told the agent this and that I wasn’t worth the effort it would take.

That said, I pay every dime in taxes that the law requires. I have no legal nor moral duty to pay what is not legally owed.

“Without tax dollars you wouldn’t be posting here.”

Explain this one. I might be able to counter.

That’s why paying annual taxes to the county in the form of “property taxes” is just insuring the government owns the land, we just “lease” it from them for a nominal fee.
